Initiating the Foster Father, Foster Mother, and Student Friend Program at Schools, the Kapolda Metro Jaya Reminds Children of Early Prevention

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, emphasized the importance of recognizing potential problems among students before they develop and disrupt their future. This emphasis was conveyed when launching the Foster Father, Foster Mother, and Student Friend Program at Balai Sarbini, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Early prevention, said Kapolda Asep, means not waiting for repeated bullying, or for disputes to escalate into violence, or for fights to result in casualties. Early information about these risks must be addressed so that protective measures can be taken before children’s safety is threatened.

“What we are building through this program is an early prevention system so that our children do not find themselves in situations that could harm their future,” said Kapolda Asep Edi Suheri.

To support these efforts, the Kapolda also instructed personnel to understand the characteristics of the school environment and the dynamics faced by students. If information is received regarding activities that could potentially harm students, support needs to be increased through coordination with schools and parents.

In this approach, he continued, identifying the problem is the first step, followed by appropriate action based on the child’s needs. Education about the risks of unlawful acts, guidance, and support are expected to help students understand the consequences of their choices before they become more involved.

Meanwhile, for families, timely prevention means preserving children’s opportunities to continue learning, develop their talents, and achieve their dreams. Moreover, children are national assets who need to be protected and given the opportunity to grow properly to become a superior generation in the future.

“Collective concern is crucial because potential problems can arise in schools, social environments, and digital spaces. Parents, teachers, the community, and the police can play a role by not ignoring information about bullying, violence, or invitations that endanger children, and by communicating this to those who can help,” said Kapolda Asep.

Through the Foster Father, Foster Mother, and Student Friend Program, it is hoped that prevention efforts can be implemented early and sustainably.

“The interests being safeguarded are not only today’s order, but also the safety of children and their opportunity to grow into the generation that will lead this nation forward,” reminded Kapolda Asep. (Bembo)
