progresifjaya.co.id, CIANJUR – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polres of Cianjur has successfully dismantled the operational, promotional, and customer service activities of the online gambling site KICAU99, which was being run from a villa in Kampung Babakan Ngantay, Cibadak Village, Sukaresmi District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

Nine individuals were apprehended during the operation and have since been named suspects. Meanwhile, an individual identified as the recruiter and operational manager—known by the initials YN (alias J)—remains at large and has been placed on the police’s wanted list (DPO).

During a press conference held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Kapolres of Cianjur, AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi revealed that the suspects are young adults believed to be linked to an international online gambling network.

“We have placed all nine suspects in custody. Notably, these individuals are affiliated with a larger, overseas-based online gambling system,” stated Kapolres AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi.

Preliminary investigations indicate that several of the suspects previously worked as administrators for online gambling operations in Cambodia before returning to Indonesia.

Upon their return, they were allegedly recruited by YN (alias J) to manage telemarketing and customer service for the KICAU99 site from a villa in the Sukaresmi area.

The suspects’ claims regarding their prior employment in Cambodia require further investigation, which will include coordination with immigration authorities.

“We will verify with the immigration office whether they hold passports and review their travel history. However, based on our questioning, they have admitted to having performed similar work in Cambodia,” explained Kapolres AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi.

Investigators are also looking into the group’s potential links to an international online gambling network, including identifying the individuals who serve as the primary controllers of the operations.

Luring Prospective Players with Promises of Large Winnings

In carrying out their activities, eight of the suspects worked as telemarketers, while one other individual served in a customer service role.

The telemarketers were provided with mobile phones containing lists of potential players’ contact numbers. They would then reach out to prospective victims via phone calls or WhatsApp messages to promote the online gambling platform KICAU99.

To entice potential players, the suspects allegedly dangled the prospect of large winnings and various other benefits.

Those who expressed interest were then instructed to create an account and make a deposit into a designated bank account.

Meanwhile, the customer service representative handled user needs, including account management and updates to bank account details related to the gambling activities.

According to the investigation, the workers were promised a monthly salary ranging from Rp3 million to Rp5 million, along with meals and a bonus of Rp50.000 for every new player they successfully recruited who went on to make a deposit.

The nine suspects apprehended in this case come from diverse backgrounds and different regions. They are identified by their initials as follows, TCZ (20), a woman from Tebing Tinggi, KW (28), a university student from Cianjur, MIG (29), from Ogan Komering Ulu, N (30), a woman from Medan, and PS (26), a university student from Tasikmalaya.

Additionally, the police arrested J (23), a university student from Deli Serdang, RS (30), a private-sector employee from Bogor, RS (24), a university student from Tangerang, and OCW (33), a university student from South Tangerang.

Kapolres AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi highlighted the involvement of the younger generation in these online gambling activities, noting that the majority of the suspects hail from outside the Cianjur Regency. According to him, this phenomenon is a serious concern because online gambling activities not only involve players but also create opportunities for the recruitment of operational staff—a process that could potentially draw young people into criminal acts.

46 Mobile Phones Seized; Estimated Turnover Reaches IDR 294 Million

During this operation, investigators seized 46 mobile phones, two laptops, one tablet, four modems, five routers, and Rp641.000 in cash.

Based on preliminary information obtained by investigators, the operations of the KICAU99 website are estimated to have generated a cash flow of approximately Rp14 million per day.

Given that the site is believed to have been operational for about three weeks—or 21 days—the total turnover is estimated to have reached Rp294 million.

However, investigators emphasized that this figure remains an estimate based on initial findings; it does not represent net profit, nor does it reflect the actual amount of cash seized.

Investigators are currently examining the electronic devices and tracing financial transactions to determine the exact scale of the cash flow and to identify other parties potentially involved in the network.

For their actions, the nine suspects have been charged under criminal provisions related to online gambling.

One of the charges is Article 45, paragraph (3), in conjunction with Article 27, paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2024, which concerns the second amendment to the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

This provision addresses the criminal act of distributing or transmitting electronic information containing gambling content, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp10 billion.

Additionally, investigators have cited Article 426, paragraph (1), letter a of Law Number 1 of 2023 (the Criminal Code), which pertains to the act of offering or providing opportunities to gamble—without authorization—as a means of livelihood; this offense carries a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
