Kapolri Suyudi Affirms the Polri Is Growing Stronger Amidst the Handling of an Illegal Wiretapping Case

Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto, has affirmed that the Polri is currently in a strong position. He emphasized, that the institution has become even more cohesive amidst the complexities surrounding the investigation into an illegal wiretapping case targeting President Prabowo Subianto—a case that involves high-ranking police officers.

Jenderal Pol Suyudi made these remarks following a visit from the Brimob Extended Family Association (PKBB) at the Polri Headquarters in South Jakarta on the afternoon of Friday, November 6, 2026. The delegation, consisting of former Commanders of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Dankorbrimob), was led by Komjen Pol (Ret) Imam Sujarwo.

“I would like to express my gratitude. To this day, the Polri remains in excellent condition—very solid, and in fact, we are confident that it is becoming even more so. This is undoubtedly due to the support and attention received from our seniors, as well as from all elements of society,” Jenderal Pol stated in a written release on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

He also expressed his appreciation for the counsel, guidance, and moral encouragement that these retired officers—from the ‘Blue Beret’ Corps—continue to provide to those currently serving in the Polri.

“We were honored by a visit from our seniors, the former Commanders of the Mobile Brigade Corps. Beyond serving as a gesture of camaraderie, this visit provided us with support, guidance, and valuable input—a relationship that has long been established,” Jenderal Pol Suyudi explained.

He further noted, that the role of these former Brimob commanders in mentoring field unit commanders has been significant, ensuring that the Mobile Brigade Corps remains a reliable force in safeguarding national security and stability.

“To this day, the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) remains an extraordinary force, providing support to the Polri to ensure that the situation in Indonesia remains secure, orderly, and conducive,” he stated.

He further emphasized that, given the dynamic state of public security and order—as well as the ongoing law enforcement processes currently being handled by the police—input from the PKBB serves to strengthen the solidarity of the Polri.

“Amidst the highly dynamic nature of public security and the evolving developments in the cases we are currently handling, the former commanders of the Mobile Brigade Corps—led by Komjen Pol (Ret.) Imam Sujarwo, along with other senior figures—have provided us with strength and guidance, ensuring that we all remain steadfast and united,” explained Kapolri Suyudi.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the PKBB, Komjen Pol (Ret.) Imam Sujarwo, expressed his appreciation for the decisive action taken by KapolribSuyudi against those involved in the alleged wiretapping of President Prabowo. He noted that enforcing the law against one’s own personnel is by no means an easy task.

“What we also truly appreciate is the action taken to apprehend those responsible for the wiretapping. It was an extraordinary development that caught us all—including our colleagues in the media—by surprise: the perpetrators turned out to be from within the Polri itself. This demonstrates his courage,” said Komjen Pol (Ret.) Imam.

He then spoke about the motto of the Mobile Brigade Corps, ‘Once deployed, one must succeed, once a step is taken, there is no turning back’. This motto, he continued, is what Kapolri Suyudi is applying in this law enforcement effort.

“This is his motto, which is why he has acted so swiftly. And this is no easy task—carrying out law enforcement when the perpetrators are from within the Polri itself,” said Komjen Pol (Ret) Imam.

“Hopefully, the Kapolri, Mr. Suyudi, will be able to shoulder this heavy burden as effectively as possible. We at the PKBB fully support him, as part of the extended Brimob family, we stand firmly behind the Kapolri—our entire association across Indonesia stands with him,” he added.

As previously reported, four high-ranking police officers have been named suspects in a case involving the alleged illegal wiretapping of President Prabowo Subianto.

The wiretapping took place between 2025 and October 2026.

“The suspects allegedly engaged in unauthorized or illegal wiretapping, targeting the phone numbers of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, state officials, political figures, members of the media, leaders of mass organizations, NGOs, and businesspeople,” stated Komjen Pol Asep during a press conference held at the Polri Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

As a result of their actions, the suspects are charged under Article 258 of Law Number 1 of 2023 (the Criminal Code), Article 332 paragraphs 1 and/or 2 of Law Number 1 of 2023, and Article 32 of the ITE (Information and Electronic Transactions) Law, which carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
