progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, highlighted the urgency of accelerating holistic police reform, including strengthening the education curriculum and utilizing technology.
He stated, that the DPR RI is pushing for accelerated police reform, including improving the education curriculum and strengthening human rights education and utilizing technology. He also emphasized, that the DPR RI maintains the position of the Polri directly under the President as part of the eight-point acceleration of police reform.
“The Polri remains directly under the President. This is the DPR’s firm stance based on the constitution and the People’s Consultative Assembly Decree,” he said during a School Seminar entitled UNIPOL: Preparing Precision Police Personnel at the Mutiara Auditorium of the Polri Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri), South Jakarta, Monday, April 13, 2026.
Speaking further, Habiburokhman also highlighted the phenomenon of “no viral, no justice” as a result of information transparency in the digital era. This phenomenon, he continued, is considered normal in the technological era. What’s important, said Habiburokhman, is that when an injustice goes viral, the police must respond immediately and find a solution.
In this seminar, Habiburokhman also assessed transparency as key to maintaining public trust in law enforcement institutions. Therefore, he hoped this seminar would provide a space for cross-sector synergy to formulate strategic recommendations for strengthening education and human resource management. It would also promote reform of the Polri bureaucracy to prepare adaptive, professional, and integrity-driven personnel for the future.
Meanwhile, Senior Police Lecturer Level I of the Polri Education and Training Institute (STIK Lemdiklat Polri), Komjen Pol. (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Chryshnanda Dwilaksana, M.Si., in his statement stated, that education is the foundation of the future of the Polri and a reflection of the nation’s civilization.

The police are a reflection of the civilization of a civilized nation. All of this can be achieved through the keys to the rule of law, human rights protection, transparency, and accountability.
Furthermore, he emphasized, that the development of police science must be interdisciplinary, adaptive, and able to respond to changing times. Police education must also produce professional, intelligent, moral, and modern police personnel.
“The future of the Polri depends on education. Police must be professional, based on police science, intelligent, moral, and modern to stay ahead of change,” said Chryshnanda.
“Policing in the digital era must also evolve into electronic policing and forensic policing. Police must be guardians of life, builders of civilization, and champions of humanity,” he added.
The School Seminar, themed “UNIPOL: Preparing Precision Police Personnel,” was held by the Police Science College (STIK) of the Lemdiklat Polri. This event aimed to serve as a strategic dialogue forum bringing together policymakers, academics, and practitioners to strengthen the direction of education policy and the development of human resources for the Polri.
The seminar emphasized the importance of transforming police education to address global dynamics and technological developments, as well as to address the complex challenges of security and public order. (Bembo)
