Broadcasting Skewed Narrative About Satpas Cimahi Without Confirmation and Already Violating the Code of Conduct

A subjective, slanted news report that attempts to criticize the Satpas Cimahi Polres.
progresifjaya.co.id, CIMAHI – An online media outlet has demonstrated irresponsible journalistic behavior by publishing a skewed and biased report. The article in question carried the headline “Allegations of Brokerage Again Tarnish the SIM administration unit (Satpas) Cimahi Polres Traffic Unit, Residents Asked to Pay Additional for Instant Driving Licenses.” This article aired on Friday, April 17, 2026, and was reposted by Tinta Journalist.
Judging from the narrative, the subjective nature of the news is immediately apparent. The sentence structure from one paragraph to the next also completely fails to reflect the 5W + 1H principle, the basis for news writing.
The 5W + 1H is a basic method for gathering information comprehensively and systematically by asking six main questions. First, what, then who, where, when, why, and how.
This method is often used in journalistic news writing, management, and problem analysis to ensure structured and informative reports. This is especially true for opinionated narratives, such as the slanted headline about the Cimahi Polres Satpas.
The use of the 5Ws + 1H in opinion pieces serves as a basic framework for comprehensively presenting facts, data, and background to the problem before the writer presents their personal analysis or argument.
Although opinions are subjective, they still require news elements to ensure a strong and accountable argument. This point is completely absent from the narrative.
Furthermore, the narrative does not include any confirmation from the Satpas, as required by the Journalistic Code of Ethics (KEJ), which requires a balanced narrative presentation that covers both sides. This constitutes a violation of the KEJ.
The Head of Registration Unit Cimahi Polres Traffic Unit, Iptu Endang Sudrajat stated in a statement, that he deeply regrets that media outlets still employ this reporting pattern, especially since the goal is to obtain substantial compensation for taking down or removing news with slanted headlines.
“I’m confused because there are still journalists who use this method. It’s a form of extortion that constitutes a criminal offense. Not to mention if the narrative presentation is subject to monetary compensation. There are many violations in writing that degrade the quality of the narrative being broadcast,” said Iptu Endang on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
He emphasized, that the Cimahi Polres Traffic Unit has already stated its stance of no longer being concerned with such news disruptions. Besides the lack of positive benefits, caring about and then responding to such news is tantamount to foolishness.
“We partner closely with journalists and enjoy discussing matters like this. The bottom line is that caring and responding is a waste of energy. We also suffer material losses if we comply with requests for monetary compensation for news takedowns,” Iptu Endang said.
“Our partner journalists also say to ignore them. There are still many positive news stories that can undermine such narratives. So, we really don’t care about such news anymore,” he added.
