To Prevent the Spread of Extremism and Terrorism Among Students, the Polda of Bali Police Hold a Child Protection Ecosystem Triangle Talkshow

The Polda of Bali held a talk show on the Ecosystem Triangle for Child Protection in Schools at the Polda of Bali Presisi Building.

progresifjaya.co.id, BALI – The Polda of Bali have been intensively collaborating across sectors to strengthen tourism security and maintain economic stability. This synergy involves the TNI, local governments, traditional villages (Pecalang), and religious leaders, including the use of Smart Road Safety Policing technology for integrated security.

Most recently, the Polda of Bali conducted a cross-sectoral collaboration to prevent the spread of extremism and terrorism among students. This effort was carried out by holding a Child Protection Ecosystem Triangle Talkshow in School Environments at the Polda of Bali Presisi Building on Friday, April 24, 2026.

This activity is the result of synergy between the Polda of Bali, Densus 88 AT Polri, the Bali Provincial Education Office (Disdikpora), the Bali Provincial KPAD (Child Protection Agency), and the Bali Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. It also involved various stakeholders in the fields of education, child protection, and family development.

In his remarks on behalf of the Head of Densus 88 AT Polri, Wakapolda of the Bali, Brigjen Pol I Made Astawa, emphasized the importance of strengthening cross-sector collaboration in addressing child extremism.

He stated, that various mitigation efforts undertaken by ministries and agencies still tend to be partial and unintegrated.

“This presents a shared challenge to strengthen synergy and cross-sector collaboration, including encouraging the formation of a national task force capable of coordinating integrated response efforts, both at the central and regional levels,” he explained.

He also emphasized, that child protection has now become a national strategic issue.

“Child protection today is no longer merely a social issue, but has become a national security issue. Threats to children are dynamic, complex, and often invisible to the naked eye,” Wakapolda Astawa emphasized.

Speaking further, he also highlighted the challenges facing the younger generation in the digital era. He continued, “As digital natives, the younger generation is indeed technologically advanced. However, at the same time, they are also vulnerable to exposure to unfiltered information, the echo chamber effect, and their digital literacy remains relatively low.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized in her statement, that protecting children from the influence of extremism has become part of the strategic national development agenda.

“Protecting children from the influence of extremism must start at the root, namely the family. This is part of investing in the development of Indonesia’s human resources,” she said.

The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, also emphasized the strengthening of local wisdom values. He stated, that this can act as a bulwark against the influx of ideologies that conflict with the nation’s character.

“Local values such as Tri Hita Karana must continue to be strengthened to maintain harmony and build a tolerant young generation,” said Governor Koster.

Character Education

Kapolda of Bali, Irjen Pol Daniel Adityajaya, in his statement at the talk show emphasized the Polri’s commitment to a collaborative, preventative approach.

“Prevention cannot be done partially; it requires synergy between the authorities, the government, schools, families, and the community,” said the Kapolda

During the talk show, the Polri’s Densus 88 AT also highlighted the spread of extremist ideology, which often utilizes digital platforms to target young people. An early detection approach is considered key to preventing exposure early.

The Chairperson of the Bali Provincial KPAD, Ni Luh Gede Yastini also emphasized, that children exposed to extremism must be viewed as victims requiring special protection.

“The approach used must prioritize the best interests of the child, including in the handling and reintegration process,” she explained.

Still on the same occasion, the Bali Provincial Education and Culture Office, through the Head of the PK and PLK Development Division, Anak Agung Bagus Suryawan, also highlighted the importance of strengthening character education as a primary prevention instrument.

“Character education is the primary preventive instrument for building students’ mental, moral, and intellectual resilience so they are not easily influenced by radicalism or terrorism,” he emphasized.

In addition to the presentation, the talk show also included a joint declaration against intolerance, radicalism, extremism, and terrorism. The declaration was echoed by students, teachers, parents, and all stakeholders in Bali Province.

Through the ecosystem triangle approach involving families, schools, and the community, it is hoped that this will strengthen social resilience and create a safe, comfortable educational environment free from the influence of violent ideologies.
