progresifjaya.co.id, DEPOK – The case of a 14-year-old boy suspected of being sexually abused by a volleyball teacher, identified as AM, in Depok, West Java, has now advanced to the investigation stage. The perpetrator has been questioned for clarification during the investigation. He is now awaiting further questioning during the investigation report (BAP).

The Head of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Unit of the Polres Metro of Depok, Iptu Sutaryo stated to the media, that the perpetrator has not yet been named a suspect. However, investigators have prepared charges against him under Article 415 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code and Article 82 of Law Number 17 of 2016 (Child Protection Law).

“The case review has been completed, moving from preliminary investigation to preliminary investigation. (The article applied is) child molestation,” said Iptu Sutaryo, Friday, April 24, 2026.

Previously, Iptu Sutaryo also stated, that investigators were still seeking information from a psychologist regarding the victim’s mental and psychological condition. After that, a case will be filed.

“The next plan is to seek information from a psychologist regarding the victim’s mental and psychological condition. Then, the next plan is to conduct a case review and determine the suspect,” he explained.

He also stated, that investigators are currently completing the formal requirements for the investigation. However, he guaranteed that the investigation into this case will be completed thoroughly.

“We apologize if the case is taking a while because we have to comply with the formal requirements for the investigation,” he concluded.

This case went viral on social media after being posted by several accounts. The circulating narratives identified the perpetrator as the victim’s trainer.

The incident began when the victim’s mother took her child to practice at the youth sports center (GOR) and waited nearby. Shortly afterward, the victim came out and approached her mother.

The victim confessed to her mother that she had experienced sexual abuse from her volleyball teacher. Upon hearing this, the victim’s parents filed a police report with the Polres Metro of Depok. The report is registered under Number LP/B/38/1/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO DEPOK/POLDA METRO JAYA.
