Joint Operation by Polda of South Sumatera Uncovers 20-Hectare Marijuana Farm in Empat Lawang, 220 Kg of Marijuana Found and Main Dealer Arrested

progresifjaya.co.id, EMPAT LAWANG — The Narcotics Investigation Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) of the Polda of South Sumatera and the Polres of Empat Lawang successfully uncovered a large-scale marijuana trafficking case in a joint operation on Friday, April 24, 2026. The operation resulted in the dismantling of a 20 hectare marijuana farm in Batu Jungul Village, Muara Pinang District, Empat Lawang Regency. Also seized were 220 kilograms of dried, ready-to-distribute marijuana as evidence.

The 220 kilograms of dried, ready-to-distribute marijuana were packaged in 11 large sacks. Four motorcycles, seized as proceeds of the crime, along with land ownership documents and maps of the marijuana farms, were also confiscated. Officers also revealed that the suspect managed the entire production chain, from cultivation to distribution.

The main suspect, identified as PD, alias Pinhar, was arrested at a bus ticket counter on Jalan Gubernur H. Bastari, Palembang. Officers found marijuana on the suspect’s person, which led to the discovery of a primary location in Batu Jungul Village as an active marijuana farm and the storage of 220 kilograms of dried marijuana.

Investigations revealed that PD controlled a network that had been operating since 2024, with distribution across Empat Lawang, Palembang, and Java. Four other individuals involved in the network are currently on the wanted list and remain at large.

For his actions, PD has been charged under Article 111 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with further charges likely to be filed based on further investigation.

This joint operation was led by the Director of Narcotics Investigation at the Polda of South Sumatera, Kombes Pol Yulian Perdana, and the Kapolres of the Empat Lawang, AKBP Abdul Aziz Septiadi.  This operation is the result of an intensive investigation that began in February 2026. The investigation also successfully mapped a cross-regional marijuana distribution network extending to Java.

The Director of Narcotics Investigation at the Polda of South Sumatera, Kombes Pol Yulian Perdana stated in a statement, that the success of this operation was the result of strong synergy between the Polda and regional authorities.

“Since 2024, this network has been managing marijuana plantations and distributing them to Java. Today, we have successfully disrupted the entire chain. The 220 kilograms of marijuana seized were not distributed, and we are continuing to develop the network,” stated Kombes Pol Yulian Perdana.

Meanwhile, Kapolres of the Empat Lawang, AKBP Abdul Aziz Septiadi added, that this successful disclosure is also a strategic step to protect the community from the threat of narcotics in his region.

“We have dismantled a 20 hectare marijuana plantation and secured the main dealer. We are also continuing to hunt down other perpetrators and conducting social outreach to the community to prevent them from re-engaging in this illegal activity,” said AKBP Abdul Aziz Septiadi.

The Head of Public Relations for the Polda of South Sumatera, Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya emphasized in his statement, that this disclosure is one of the greatest achievements in the drug eradication effort in the South Sumatra region.

“The Polda of South Sumatera are not only cracking downstream drug trafficking, but also disrupting upstream production sources. The 20 hectare marijuana plantation and 220 kilograms of marijuana that were confiscated are proof of our commitment to protecting the public,” said Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Speaking further, Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya continued, the Polda of South Sumatera have also reaffirmed their commitment to continue developing the case until the entire network is uncovered. He also appealed to the public to continue playing an active role in providing information regarding efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in the South Sumatera region.
