Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung signed a memorandum of understanding on optimizing the use of 24.095 CCTV cameras to maintain security and public order.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, has reached an agreement with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. This agreement was formalized through the joint signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Optimizing CCTV Utilization to Maintain Security and Public Order.

The signed MoU is a joint agreement to launch a surveillance integration program for 24.095 CCTV units. The 24.095 CCTVs from various sources (regional-owned enterprises, regional government agencies, Polda Metro Jaya traffic facilities, and private buildings above four stories) are connected into a single integrated system.

The CCTV monitoring dashboard will not be publicly available to maintain public confidentiality. Only the Jakarta Provincial Government and Polda Metro Jaya will have access to it.

The CCTV program’s methodology aims to facilitate the police’s use of scientific crime investigation technology to detect, prevent, and prosecute street crimes such as muggings and brawls.

“Hopefully, this activity will benefit us all. Specifically, the police will optimize technology to anticipate crime and expedite the public’s response to police assistance,” said Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Kang Asep ‘Sniper’ after signing a memorandum of understanding at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Monday, May 18, 2026.

He also explained, that this CCTV management collaboration will also be beneficial for traffic monitoring. The presence of CCTV allows personnel to make faster decisions regarding traffic management.

“This collaboration is aimed at maintaining security and order, and we can also use it to monitor traffic flow in the Jakarta area. This will allow personnel in the field to react more quickly to locations that need to be visited to address public order, security, and traffic situations,” explained Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’.

However, he continued, this CCTV optimization collaboration will still uphold privacy protection. This is in line with applicable regulations.

At the same time, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated, that the 24,095 CCTV cameras are owned by various parties, including the Jakarta Provincial Government, the police, and even buildings with more than four stories.

With this collaboration, the Jakarta Provincial Government’s data will be more comprehensive, strengthening the Jaga  Jakarta program initiated by the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri.

“If this program agreement is implemented, Jakarta will have even more comprehensive data. And hopefully, this will further strengthen Jaga Jakarta which has been carried out jointly by the Jakarta Provincial Government, the Polda Metro Jaya, the Jakarta Military Commander, and all Regional Leadership Communication Forums (Forkopimda) in Jakarta,” he explained.
