progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya announced that they will tighten oversight of motorcycles using noisy mufflers or mufflers that do not meet standards. This policy is being evaluated following a deadly clash between groups in the Matraman area, Central Jakarta, which killed one person.

As is known, noisy mufflers were the initial trigger for the riot. Therefore, the use of mufflers that disturb other road users has again become a concern for authorities.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto stated in a statement, that the evaluation will be conducted in conjunction with the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate. This step is being taken in accordance with the direction of the Kapolda Metro Jaya.

“The Traffic Directorate will review this matter further, in accordance with the Chief’s directive. This is to ensure that we all respect other road users,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

He stated, that the police continue to respect people who have a passion for the automotive world.  However, vehicle users must still consider the comfort of other road users.

“We respect our friends who have a passion for cars. However, there are other road users who we must also respect,” he explained.

According to him, the use of excessively loud exhausts should not disrupt public order and comfort. The police will also take action against vehicles using exhausts that do not comply with regulations.

“Later, we will follow up on any issues related to noisy exhausts or those that do not comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI),” he emphasized.

Enforcement of vehicles with noisy exhausts or those that do not comply with the SNI falls under the authority of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate. This evaluation is expected to prevent a recurrence of similar issues that could trigger public unrest.
