Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, leads a meeting between DPR RI leadership and labor representatives.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Leaders of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) met with representatives from various labor unions to discuss proposals intended as input for the drafting of articles in the Manpower Bill.

The meeting was led by DPR RI Deputy Speaker, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. He was accompanied by fellow Deputy Speakers Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal and Saan Mustopa, Deputy Chair of Commission IX Putih Sari, and the Chair of the House Legislation Body (Baleg), Bob Hasan.

Labor representatives in attendance included KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea, Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat (General Chair of the All-Indonesia Workers Union Confederation/KSPSI), Elly Rosita Silaban (All-Indonesia Labor Union Confederation/KSBSI), Said Iqbal (Special Advisor to the President on Manpower and Labor Welfare), and other representatives. The meeting took place at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

During the meeting, Sufmi Dasco stated, that the input provided by labor representatives would be discussed further for potential inclusion in the Manpower Bill.

“We are holding discussions to determine which proposals are technical in nature and can be directly incorporated into the drafting of the articles,” said Sufmi Dasco.

“We will also discuss how all existing labor unions can be involved in the deliberations on the Manpower Bill, including which specific provisions we will agree upon,” he added.

He noted, that following the meeting, House Commission IX would open avenues for broad public participation to discuss the Manpower Bill, aiming to gather a wider range of input for the legislation.

“Once today’s meeting concludes and we enter the active legislative session—as we are currently in a recess period—Commission IX will open avenues for public participation; while this has already begun, the active session will allow for more time to do so,” he explained.

It was also noted, that the academic paper and the draft of the Manpower Bill, prepared by the DPR Expert Body, have been submitted to Commission IX. The draft comprises 19 chapters and 224 articles.

“The submitted draft consists of 19 chapters and 224 articles. The topics addressed include the prevention of employment termination, wages, fixed-term employment contracts, outsourcing, training and apprenticeships, workforce placement, workers outside standard employment relationships, and the employment of foreign nationals,” stated Sufmi Dasco.
