progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — A total of 9.242 joint personnel have been deployed by the Polda Metro Jaya to provide services and security for 47 events within the force’s jurisdiction on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

These 47 events comprise 31 public demonstrations and 16 community activities. The events are taking place in various areas, including Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta.

Before commencing their duties, the personnel attended a roll call at the Presisi Field of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate at 08:00 WIB.

Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto explained, that the 9.242 joint personnel consist of 5.670 Polda Metro Jaya officers, 222 officers from subordinate precinct police stations (Polres), 1.500 TNI (military) personnel, and 1.850 personnel seconded from the Polri Headquarters (BKO).

“We appreciate the university students who submitted notifications for their activities. The presence of the TNI, the Polri, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government aims to ensure a sense of security so that aspirations can be conveyed effectively,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

He also noted, that expressing opinions in public is a right of citizens protected by Law Number 9 of 1998. However, participants are reminded to fulfill their obligations as stipulated in Article 6, which include respecting the rights and freedoms of others and maintaining public security and order.

He added, that other community activities—ranging from education, work, and economic activities to transportation and daily routines—would also remain a focus for the police.

“There are still many members of the public carrying out their routine activities around the event locations. Therefore, we hope the expression of aspirations proceeds in an orderly manner while respecting the rights of other members of the public,” he said. 

Kombes Pol Bhudi of the Polda Metro Jaya further urged the public engaging in activities around the HI Roundabout, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Monas, and the surrounding areas to stay updated on the latest information and follow the directions of officers on the ground.

Traffic management measures will be implemented situationally, based on traffic flow conditions. Traffic diversions will be put in place if congestion occurs or if necessary to ensure the smooth flow of public activities.

The Polda Metro Jaya also hopes that all expressions of opinion and public activities will proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly, while remaining mindful of the activities and rights of other members of the public.

During this security operation, personnel are also wearing black armbands on their left arms as a symbol of solidarity, concern, and mourning for the earthquake disaster that has struck the people of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“The black armbands we are wearing represent our solidarity and condolences regarding the disaster experienced by our brothers and sisters in NTT. We pray that the affected communities are granted strength and that the response efforts proceed smoothly,” concluded Kombes Pol Bhudi. (Bembo)
