progresifjaya.co.id, BANTEN – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo has encouraged the establishment of Tjimande pencak silat (martial arts) centers in every regency across Banten. These centers are intended to serve as hubs for youth development, cultural preservation, and the strengthening of public security and order.

The Kapolri conveyed this message during the inauguration of the Silat Art Training Hall and the 3rd-anniversary celebration of Pesanggrahan Tjimande Banten Indonesia on Friday, September 18, 2026.

He stated, that the newly inaugurated training hall is not merely a place for martial arts practice; it must also serve as a space for character building, the preservation of traditions, religious and social activities, and a means to strengthen community bonds.

“Moving forward, padepokan (training centers) should be established in every regency so that Tjimande continues to grow and produce martial artists who possess self-defense skills, protect the weak, and collaborate with the Polri to help maintain public security and order,” the Kapolri said.

According to the Kapolri, pencak silat is an integral part of the nation’s identity and cultural wealth that must be passed down to the younger generation. It teaches not only self-defense skills but also instills values of brotherhood, discipline, and self-control, while fostering character development.

He emphasized, that every martial artist must use their strength responsibly. Strength should never be a pretext for arrogance, violence, or harming others.

“A true jawara (martial arts master) is not someone who seeks out opponents to show off their strength. Rather, it is an individual capable of self-restraint, protecting the community, resolving issues wisely, and prioritizing the common good over personal or group interests,” the Kapolri stated.

He expressed hope, that Pesanggrahan Tjimande Banten Indonesia (PTBI) would develop into a welcoming home for all martial artists and schools, fostering a spirit of brotherhood. Differences in styles, schools, or organizations should be viewed as an asset that strengthens unity among the people of Banten.

This training center is also expected to serve as a hub for character development, equipping the younger generation with moral integrity, humility, the courage to stand up for the truth, and the ability to navigate the changing times.

The Kapolri also urged instructors and senior members to continue mentoring younger members by setting a good example. Pencak silat must be developed through education, training, competitions, artistic performances, and the use of digital technology to ensure it remains recognized and cherished by future generations.

Beyond preserving culture, the Kapolri called upon PTBI members to play an active role in maintaining public order and security within their respective communities. Members of the martial arts school were asked to uphold harmony, resist provocation, avoid violence, and resolve differences through dialogue and mutual consultation.

The Kapolri stand ready to collaborate with PTBI, religious leaders, jawara other silat schools, and the general public to maintain public order and security, as well as to prevent juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, brawls, and other security disturbances. (Bembo)
