progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya’s success in uncovering a large-scale smuggling of imported used clothing from East Asia has received full praise from the Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), Edi Saputra Hasibuan. He expressed his admiration for the swift action of the Polda Metro Jaya’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigations, who were able to stop this illegal activity through two successful raids.
“We must be honest and commend the swift performance of the Polda Metro Jaya in dismantling a used clothing smuggling syndicate from East Asia, including China, Japan, and South Korea. It was excellent,” he said in Jakarta on Saturday (22/11).
The man born in Padang Lawas on April 13, 1968, who serves as an Expert Advisor to the Kapolri, also argued that the Polda Metro Jaya’s ability to quickly follow up on orders from President Prabowo and the Kapolri to stop this smuggling operation is an example of success that should be emulated by other Polda.
“Moreover, we know that the 439 used clothing items, with an estimated value of Rp4,2 billion, are extremely dangerous if they reach the public. The cleanliness of these used clothes cannot be guaranteed. They are toxic because they have the potential to carry diseases to the public,” said the former member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), concluding his statement. (Bembo)
