Two-Day Journalist Competency Test for Professional and Qualified Polda Metro Jaya Officially Closes

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The 2025 Journalist Competency Test (UKW), held by the Polda Metro Jaya in collaboration with the Indonesian Polri Journalists Forum (FWP), the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) and the PWI Jaya at the Polda Metro Jaya Meeting Hall in South Jakarta, officially closed on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

The UKW, which took place over two days, December 15-16, 2025, was attended by 86 journalists. The goal of the exam was to improve the professionalism, integrity, quality, and journalistic ethics of journalists.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto stated in an official statement, that the UKW is an important part of strengthening the synergy between the Polri and the press amidst the challenges of an increasingly rapid and complex flow of information.

A professional, competent, and integrity-driven press, he continued, is a strategic partner for the Polri in presenting accurate and balanced information. It is also a powerful force in countering hoaxes, unbalanced information, and disinformation.

“There is no room for unbalanced and hoax-like news. Nevertheless, the Polda Metro Jaya remains open to objective and constructive criticism as part of social control within a democratic system,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

Next, Kombes Pol Bhudi also expressed his appreciation for the role of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Central Office, the Press Council, the PWI Jaya, the Polri Journalists Forum, the examining board, and the entire committee for making the 2025 UKW  at the Polda Metro Jaya a success. He also expressed his hope that the competencies gained by participants would not only be limited to certificates but would also be applied in the form of beautiful, enlightening journalistic work to build public trust.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PWI, Akhmad Munir, also expressed his appreciation for the support of the Polda Metro Jaya in organizing the 2025 UKW. He stated, that this activity is crucial for maintaining the integrity, professionalism, and ethics of journalists amidst increasingly complex news reporting dynamics.

“This competency test is an important part of maintaining integrity, improving professionalism, and strengthening the dignity and honor of the Indonesian press,” Munir said.

He also expressed his hope that collaboration between the press and the Polri would continue to foster a healthy information space, while also supporting the Jaga Jakarta program, ensuring a safe, orderly, and conducive environment. (Bembo)
