Amidst preparations for the registration of candidates for the new BEM chair, the voices of the previous BEM leadership, now in their retiring status, are also influencing the campus political atmosphere. The retiring leadership has provided full support and messages for the prospective successors at STIH – PGL Jakarta.
The retiring BEM expressed their full support for the succession process and emphasized the importance of transparency and sustainability of work programs.
The previous BEM chairman, Richard Ahmad Supriyanto, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the new student leaders.
“The leadership regeneration process is the essence of a student organization. We welcome the fresh initiatives and ideas brought by the candidates to continue the legacy of BEM,” Richard told the media yesterday.
Furthermore, Richard conveyed his message that the new leadership should not only focus on internal campus issues but also have a vision for forging partnerships with external parties and the wider community.
“BEM is not just about on-campus activities, but also about how we can make a real contribution as agents of change in society,” he explained.
Therefore, he continued, the outgoing students also hope that the work programs that had run well in the previous period can be continued and further improved. He also emphasized the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the previous BEM’s performance. The goal is to prevent the same mistakes from happening again and to address them with a more mature concept.

Separately, the previous Secretary General of the Student Executive Board, Melkianus Kosat, also stated that the response from the outgoing Student Executive Board as a whole reflected high hopes for the incoming leadership.
They hope the new leadership can be an effective channel for student aspirations, fight for student rights, and lead the Student Executive Board to become an even better organization.
“We believe that each term brings new enthusiasm and challenges. Our message is to remain critical, innovative, and always side with the interests of students,” Melkianus said.
The end of the previous management’s term can also be interpreted as a wait for the passing of the leadership baton to the elected young leaders. This wait holds great hope for change and progress for the organization and its students. (Bembo)
