Wakapolda Metro Jaya and Journalists Commemorate National Press Day 2026

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Journalists working at the Polda Metro Jaya celebrated National Press Day 2026 on Monday, February 9, 2026. The commemoration took place at the Polda Metro Jaya Press Hall.

The commemoration was lively and filled with camaraderie between media crews and police personnel. Also present were Wakapolda Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono, representing the Kapolda Metro Jaya.

Also in attendance were the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto; the Director of General Crimes, Kombes Pol Imam Imanuddin; the Director of Special Crimes, Kombes Pol Edy Suranta Sitepu; and the Head of the Propam Sector, Kombes Pol Radjo Alriadi Harahap.

In his remarks, Wakapolda Dekananto stated, that the collaborative relationship between the police and the press is a crucial factor in supporting the success of police duties. He also expressed his appreciation for journalists as strategic partners in carrying out their duties, providing accurate, balanced, and responsible information to the public.

“The press plays a crucial role in maintaining transparency and building public trust. We hope that the synergy that has been well-established can continue to improve,” said Wakapolda Dekananto.

He also emphasized, that the mass media plays a key role in ensuring the public receives factual information.

“Good cooperation between the Polda Metro Jaya and the press is crucial, as the mass media is our primary means of conveying accurate and factual information,” he said.

Furthermore, Wakapolda Dekananto highlighted the challenges of the current digital era, particularly with the rapid spread of information through social media. Therefore, he continued, the credibility of the professional press is increasingly important and must be considered as a primary and reliable source of information.

He also stated, that the Polda Metro Jaya is always open to strengthening cooperation with the media. The goal is to ensure that information regarding police activities is conveyed clearly and accurately to the public.

“We greatly appreciate the role of the press in assisting the police, both in educating the public and overseeing police performance. Therefore, we hope this synergy will become even stronger to create a safe and orderly society,” he added.

Wakapolda Dekananto also conveyed his remarks, wishing all journalists in Indonesia a Happy National Press Day.

“May the press continue to thrive and develop in conveying information that is beneficial to the public. We also hope to always uphold the journalistic code of ethics to safeguard democracy and law enforcement in Indonesia,” he added hopefully. (Bembo)
