Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, with the leaders of Commission III of the DPR.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – After being suspended by his party and the House Ethics Court (MKD), Ahmad Sahroni, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Nasdem faction, has officially returned to his position as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
This decision was announced by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, during a Commission III meeting at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives oversees law enforcement.
“Can Ahmad Sahroni be approved to be appointed as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives?” asked Sufmi Dasco during the meeting, which was ultimately approved by the members present.
Sufmi Dasco explained, that this decision was made after the House leadership received a letter from the Nasdem Party faction of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) No. F-NasDem/107/DPR RI/II/2026 dated February 12, 2026. The letter contained notification of the replacement of the deputy chair of Commission III, the chair of the Budget Agency faction group (Kapoksi), and members of the Budget Agency.
In this replacement, Ahmad Sahroni replaced Rusdi Masse Mappasessu, who was previously appointed to fill the position of deputy chair of Commission III, replacing Ahmad Sahroni, who was serving a sanction period.
To all members of the hearing, Ahmad Sahroni expressed his appreciation to the DPR leadership and members of Commission III for their renewed trust. He also thanked the Constitutional Court (MKD) for processing his case.
“Thank you to the MKD leadership for hearing me. I hope i can improve in the future,” said Ahmad Sahroni.
As is known, at the end of August 2025, the Nasdem Party faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) removed Ahmad Sahroni from his position as deputy chairman of Commission III and transferred him to a regular member of Commission I. This action was taken following the controversy surrounding his statements, which attracted public attention.
Afterward, the Nasdem Party, through its Central Leadership Council (DPP), suspended Ahmad Sahroni from the DPR. The Nasdem Party considered Ahmad Sahroni’s statements at the time to have deviated from the party’s line of struggle and hurt public sentiment.
The DPR’s Constitutional Court (MKD) then imposed a six-month suspension, effective from the date of the verdict. The suspension period began when the Nasdem Party’s DPP suspended him.
The suspension has now expired. Ahmad Sahroni can return to his duties as chairman of Commission III of the DPR, which oversees law enforcement. Just that. (Bembo)
