Dewa United FC Hands Second Defeat to League Leaders Persija

The match between Dewa United FC and Persija Jakarta.

progresifjaya.co.id, SERANG – Dewa United FC handed Persija Jakarta their second defeat of the season in a match held at the Banten International Stadium. The clash between the two major sides took place during the eighth week of the 2026-2027 Super League on the evening of Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Persija scored an early goal in the fourth minute through a strike by Rayhan Hannan. However, their hopes of securing three points vanished as Dewa United FC turned the match around with goals from Denilson Junior and Taisei Marukawa. Persija were also forced to play with only 10 men after Dony Tri Pamungkas received a second yellow card in the final 25 minutes.

The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Dewa United FC. Despite the loss, Persija remains at the top of the league standings with 18 points.

Nevertheless, this result allows the Banten Warriors to close the gap, moving into second place with 17 points.

In this encounter, Persija started aggressively from the opening minute. The Macan Kemayoran played at a high tempo, seeking an early goal—which they achieved in the fourth minute.

Following a corner kick from Kwon Chang-hoon, Alexander Jeremejeff headed the ball against the goalpost. Jeremejeff regained possession and delivered a pass to Rayhan Hannan, who struck the ball immediately—without needing a touch—to find the back of the Dewa United FC net. Despite taking the lead, Persija committed several unnecessary errors in their defensive line.

Fortunately for Persija, Denilson Junior failed to capitalize on a blunder in the sixth minute, when Stjepan Loncar played a backpass toward goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata. Dewa United FC continued to push for an equalizer, but they nearly conceded again in the 13th minute following an effort by Ivan Mamut.

Unfortunately, the goal was disallowed because Mamut was caught offside. Dewa United FC finally secured the goal they had been striving for in the 42nd minute.

Edo Febriansyah delivered a free kick from the right flank toward the far post, where Denilson met it with a header that found the back of the Persija net. Persija, struggling to play their best football in this match, ended the first half with the score tied at 1-1.

At the start of the second half, in the 51st minute, Persija missed a golden opportunity to extend their lead. Jeremejeff managed to stay onside and delivered a cutback toward Mamut.

Unfortunately, the ball was intercepted by a Dewa United FC defender before it could reach Mamut. Persija continued to press and found another opportunity in the 58th minute through Dony Tri Pamungkas.

Early in the second half, Persija missed a golden chance to extend their lead in the 51st minute.

This time, his shot was gathered by Sonny Stevens, who quickly launched the ball forward. The counterattack gave Dewa United FC a chance to score their second goal.

However, Nadeo made a heroic, brilliant save to deny a shot from Rafael Struick. Following that moment, Dewa United FC took control of the match, forcing Persija to spend most of their time on the defensive.

The Macan Kemayoran endured a difficult spell, compounded by a yellow card shown to Dony Tri Pamungkas in the 65th minute for pulling Rafael Struick’s jersey during a transition play.

After missing several chances, Dewa United FC finally took the lead in the 85th minute through a goal by Taisei Marukawa. Egy Maulana Vikri provided a pass to Ivar Jenner, who unleashed a powerful shot that Marukawa controlled skillfully inside the six-yard box.

The player—currently in the process of naturalization—immediately beat Nadeo with a fierce close-range strike.

Macan Kemayoran attempted to respond with a header from Rizky Ridho following a corner kick, but the ball struck the post and went out of play.

Shin Tae-yong’s side failed to equalize before the final whistle. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Dewa United FC.
