Evidence in the case of theft of a car whose license plate had been changed by the perpetrator.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya Mobile Detective (Resmob) Sub-Directorate has uncovered a car theft case using impersonating police officers. The perpetrators are a married couple named Alde Setiadi also known as AS, and Yoane Novia Wenno also known as YW. They were arrested at a house in the Cilodong area of Depok City on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The car theft occurred at the Cibubur Rest Area, East Jakarta. Interestingly, the perpetrators and the victim were already acquainted.

The introduction occurred when the perpetrators ordered the victim’s online transportation service last October. From there, communication continued, and the two exchanged phone numbers. The perpetrators also claimed to be police officers during the introduction.

On November 2, 2025, the car theft scheme began. The perpetrators ordered a car online from the victim and asked to be taken to the hospital because his wife was bleeding.

Unsuspecting, the victim immediately agreed and picked up perpetrators AS and YW from their home to take them to the hospital.

During the trip, the victim, AS, asked the perpetrator to stop at the Cibubur rest area. He then got out of the car and claimed he was going to meet a client. The victim and YW remained waiting in the car.

Shortly afterward, AS called YW. He asked the victim to deliver a folder or document to where he was meeting the client.

When the victim complied, YW took advantage of the opportunity. The victim left the car, with the engine running and the key still in the ignition, and immediately revved the gas after leaving the rest area.

For this incident, the two perpetrators, who are currently in the Polda Metro detention cell, have been charged under Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning Aggravated Theft (Curat). They face a maximum sentence of nine years in prison. (Bembo)
