Polri Deploy 1.963 Joint Personnel to Support Workers’ Demonstration at the South Crossroads of Monas

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — A total of 1.963 joint personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro the Central, and the surrounding police sectors were deployed to support a demonstration by the Alliance of Trade Union Federations/Labor Unions throughout Jakarta and various other elements in the Gambir area, Central Jakarta, on Monday, (17/11). The demonstration was centered at the South Crossroads of Monas and received police support with a humane and professional approach.
Kapolres Metro the Central Jakarta, Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro, emphasized in a statement, that all personnel on the ground were not equipped with firearms. This measure was taken to ensure a safe and comfortable atmosphere for expressing opinions.
He stated, that the Polri are present to provide the best possible space and service for the public who wish to express their aspirations.
“Our officers do not carry firearms. We are here to serve our brothers and sisters who will express their opinions in a humane and professional manner. We want the entire process to proceed safely, orderly, and with mutual respect,” he explained.
Speaking further, Kombes Pol Susatyo also appealed to the speakers to be wise and refrain from making statements that could potentially inflame tensions among the protesters.
“I hope the speakers can maintain a conducive atmosphere. Don’t provoke the crowd, because aspirations will be stronger if expressed in a peaceful and orderly manner,” he reminded them.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of maintaining order during the demonstration. He reminded the crowd not to engage in actions that could endanger or damage the environment.
“We urge all protesters not to throw stones at officers, not to burn used tires, and not to damage public facilities. Officers on the ground are there to serve. So let’s work together to maintain a conducive atmosphere,” he said.
Regarding traffic flow, Kombes Pol Susatyo continued, the police have implemented situational engineering measures to follow developments on the ground. Therefore, the public is advised to seek alternative routes if they do not have any urgent needs to pass through the Monas area. (Bembo)
