progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate has thwarted the distribution of etomidate. Etomidate is a chemical compound originally used as a short-acting intravenous anesthetic in the medical field, but is often misused by mixing it into vape (e-cigarette) fluids. This compound is classified as a Schedule II narcotic in Indonesia.
“We have secured three young men with the initials A, C, and R, suspected of being involved in the abuse and distribution of this substance, along with 35 cartridges as evidence,” said AKP Sigit, the officer handling the case, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
The arrests of the three suspects were made on Monday, February 23, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM WIB. The perpetrators were arrested at a house in Karanganyar Village, Sawah Besar District.
“This operation began with a public report regarding the alleged distribution of narcotics, vapes containing etomidate, in the area,” he added.
The three perpetrators are currently being held at the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Investigation Directorate for further investigation. (Bembo)
