progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The alleged intimidation of cleaning staff at the Taman Palem Lestari Complex in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, has drawn the attention of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI). The Deputy Chairman of Commission III, Dede Indra Permana Soediro, urged the police, particularly the West Jakarta Metro Polres, to immediately investigate the case.

“We ask the police to immediately investigate the actions of a group of security officers. They showed no good manners toward the elderly or women,” Dede Indra stated firmly on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

According to him, cases like this cannot be tolerated. Intimidation, especially against the elderly, is a lack of manners and good character. If not dealt with promptly, it is feared that this behavior will set a bad example for others to emulate.

This case emerged after a video of the alleged intimidation went viral on social media. In the video, a sanitation worker named Dewi Astuti is picking up trash in the Taman Palem Lestari complex as assigned by the local neighborhood association (RT). However, Dewi is prevented from doing so and subjected to rough treatment by several individuals claiming to be security personnel.

A witness at the scene, the RT head named Jethro, was also obstructed when trying to help Dewi. One of the individuals even claimed to have received orders from the village head to prohibit the cleaning activity.

In the video, Dewi is also seen being pushed, causing her to fall. Dewi eventually reported the case to the West Jakarta Metro Polres.
