progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s position as a leading global pencak silat force was once again reaffirmed by the Indonesian National Pencak Silat Team. At the 2026 Belgium Open Pencak Silat Championship, held from April 24–27, 2026, in Schönborn, Belgium, Indonesia, with its nine athletes, won four gold medals and one silver medal.

The Indonesian National Pencak Silat Team’s significant contribution to this achievement was also evident in the role of the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), Irjen Pol Nunung Syaifuddin, who served as Manager of the Indonesian National Pencak Silat Team.  Under his leadership, athlete development has become increasingly professional and sustainable, resulting in world-class achievements.

“The Polri is very proud of the National Pencak Silat Team athletes who have won international championships like the Belgium Open. This is clear evidence of the quality, winning mentality, and competitiveness of Indonesian athletes at the global level,” said Irjen Pol Nunung Syaifuddin.

This achievement also provides important capital for Indonesian pencak silat to compete in the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia. The Garbha Presisi Polri Taekwondo Team won the overall championship at the 22nd WATA Open International Taekwondo Championship 2026 in Osaka, Japan.

In addition to pencak silat, the Polri brilliance in developing the younger generation in sports was also previously noted at the 22nd WATA Open International Taekwondo Championship 2026 in Osaka, Japan. On April 27, 2026, Polri taekwondo athletes also won the overall championship at this event.

The Polri contingent comprised of 15 top athletes, performed dominantly from the first to the second day of the competition, winning a total of 21 medals. These medals included 14 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. This achievement propelled the Garbha Presisi Polri Taekwondo Team to the top of the final standings, surpassing competitors from various countries.

The Wakapolri, Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo, emphasized, that these two achievements were the concrete result of focused and continuous development.

“In less than a week, the Polri have proven their ability to excel through martial arts. After winning the overall championship in taekwondo in Japan, they have once again brought honor to the nation in Belgium. The establishment of the Polri Sports Committee, established in 2024, will serve as a forum and system to ensure the development and guarantee of the rights of high-achieving Polri athletes,” said Wakapolri Dedi.

This success, continued Wakapolri Dedi, is not only a source of pride for the Indonesian nation, but also brings honor to the Polri, which has consistently provided full support to sports through the Polri Sports Committee, inaugurated by Kapolri, Jenderal Pol  Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

This success is also expected to inspire Indonesia’s younger generation to continue to excel, uphold sportsmanship, and uphold the noble values of the nation’s culture. Keep hustling, the grind never lies, bro!
