Welcoming May Day 2026 at Monas, the Polda MetroTraffic Directorate Finalizes Traffic Engineering and Deploys 1.793 Personnel

Dirlantas of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Komarudin.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya has thoroughly prepared traffic engineering to ensure safe traffic flow during the International Workers Day or May Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, this Friday, May 1, 2026. A total of 1.793 traffic officers will also be deployed and spread across several locations.

Travel routes leading to Monas, including those from East Java, Central Java, West Java, and Lampung, have been regulated. This includes designated bus parking areas.

Based on preliminary data from the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate, approximately 200.000 workers will be arriving at Monas. Several groups will also be holding activities around Jakarta.

“According to the latest data we received, it is estimated that more than 200.000 workers will be heading to Monas starting this morning. Several groups may also be carrying out activities in various parts of Jakarta,” said Kombes Pol Komarudin, Traffic Director (Dirlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya, on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

“Therefore, we would like to inform you that Jakarta will likely be quite congested tomorrow. However, we will continue to strive to ensure that all activities can proceed, despite some slowdowns,” he added.

He also stated, that around 4.000 buses are estimated to be heading to Jakarta. Precautions will be taken at several points, considering that tomorrow’s May Day celebrations coincide with a long weekend.

“We are implementing traffic flow management on a situational basis. This includes diversions or closures for areas with high traffic volumes. We will implement diversions or even closures if necessary,” explained Kombes Pol Komarudin.

Several zones will be implemented tomorrow to determine whether traffic engineering is necessary.

“Yes, we hope we can remain in the green zone. This means all roads can continue to be used for traffic circulation, including two-wheeled vehicles, four-wheeled vehicles, and the participating buses that will be entering,” said Kombes Pol Komarudin.

Meanwhile, the yellow zone will be implemented if traffic congestion occurs around the Monas. The engineering will begin at Sarinah, Tugu Tani, and Harmoni.

“Being in the yellow zone means we have begun diverting traffic or reducing traffic volume to prevent further and longer-lasting congestion,” he added.
