Green SM Expresses Condolences Following Brutal Train Collision at East Bekasi Station

The Green SM electric taxi experienced a short circuit and was hit by the KRL 5181 commuter line train, causing a fatal accident. The Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with the KRL at East Bekasi Station.

“Green SM expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the incident in the East Bekasi Station area.

As is known, the accident is suspected to have begun when a Green SM electric taxi experienced a short circuit and was hit by a commuter line train, KRL 5181, traveling from Cikarang to Jakarta. As a result, other commuter line trains were held up at East Bekasi Station.
Tragically, the commuter line train, which was held up at East Bekasi Station, was brutally hit by a long-distance train, the Argo Bromo Anggrek, bound for Pasar Turi, Surabaya. As a result, 16 people were reportedly killed—according to preliminary data—and dozens more were injured.
This accident immediately drew public attention to the Green SM electric taxi, which was hit by a commuter line train at the Ampera Street level crossing in East Bekasi.
The electric car reportedly stalled in the middle of the railroad crossing, hitting the passing commuter line train.
The Head of the Pullahjianta Section of the Traffic Accident Sub-Directorate of the Traffic Law Enforcement Korlantas Polri, Kompol Sandhi Wiedyanoe in a statement revealed, that a technical problem arose when the Green SM taxi stopped at the East Bekasi railroad crossing, leading to the brutal collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek and the Commuter Line.
“The accident was caused by a short circuit or electrical problem in the electric four-wheeled taxi. The problem occurred at the Ampera crossing, the Ampera railroad crossing,” Kompol Sandhi told the media on April 28, 2026.
He also added, that the railroad crossing where the taxi stopped was built by community members.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto stated in a statement, that the police are investigating and investigating the cause of the train accident in East Bekasi. All elements will be examined and a crime scene investigation (TKP) will be conducted.
“We will investigate whether this was related to human error or a system issue. Everything will be investigated through witness interviews, evidence, and the results of the crime scene investigation,” said Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto.
