progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, announced that President Prabowo Subianto will directly present the Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) at the DPR RI plenary session on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

According to him, there is no regulation prohibiting the President from directly presenting the agenda before the DPR RI. Although, until now, the KEM-PPKF has usually been delivered by the Minister of Finance as the government’s representative.

“The ministers actually represent the President. So there’s no regulation that allows the President to… directly. That’s fine. This is an introduction to the preparation of the 2026 State Budget. Regarding Macroeconomic Policy and the Principles of Fiscal Policy,” said Sufmi Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

He also assessed, that President Prabowo’s move to directly deliver the KEM-PPKF was likely the first in the history of a plenary session of the DPR RI.

“I just checked, maybe this is the first time. Yes. Okay. Is there anything else?” he said.

However, he was reluctant to speculate on the specific reasons behind the government’s decision.

“Don’t ask me about the reasons,” said Sufmi Dasco.

Wednesday’s plenary session is scheduled to discuss the direction of the government’s economic policy and the principles of fiscal policy as the basis for preparing the Draft State Budget for the coming fiscal year.

The government is also expected to present economic growth projections, state revenue strategies, and national priority spending policies.
