Two Criminals Who Attempted Motorcycle Theft and Shot a Resident in Matraman Arrested by the Jatanras Polda Metro in East Lampung

The two attempted motorcycle thieves, identified as ENR and RDS, were arrested by the Sub-Directorate of Violent Crimes (Jatanras) of the Directorate of General Crimes of the Polda Metro Jaya, along with a 9-caliber bullet and a homemade firearm as evidence.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Two criminals who attempted motorcycle theft and shot a resident in the Matraman area, East Jakarta, were successfully arrested by the Sub-Directorate of Violent Crimes (Jatanras) of the Directorate of General Crimes (Ditreskrimum) of the Polda Metro Jaya. The two were arrested in Tebing Village, Melinting District, East Lampung Regency, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m. WIB.
In his explanation to the media, the Director of the Polda Metro Jaya’s
General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin stated, that the two arrested criminals were identified as ENR (23) and RDS (21). ENR acted as the executor, while RDS was in charge of driving the motorcycle.
“The team successfully apprehended two young criminals in East Lampung. One of the perpetrators was the executor who shot the victim. The other perpetrator acted as the driver,” explained Kombes Pol Iman in his statement on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
He explained, that the two criminals’ crime occurred on Jalan Salemba Utan Barat, Palmeriam Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at around 12:22 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. At that time, the witness heard footsteps and saw two men trying to steal his motorcycle.
The witness then knocked on the door from inside, causing the two perpetrators to flee. As he attempted to pursue them, the witness saw one of the perpetrators pull out a firearm, so he abandoned his attempt and simply shouted for help. The victim, hearing the witness’s screams, attempted to confront the two criminals, shouting, “Thieves!”
“One of the perpetrators then fired a shot, hitting the victim in the right thigh. After that, the two fled the scene,” added Kombes Pol Iman.
During the raid on these two criminals, a silver revolver and a 9-millimeter bullet were seized as evidence. Both are currently undergoing questioning to determine the origin of the firearm, including their possible involvement in other crimes.
To account for their actions, these two young, reckless criminals are being charged under Article 479 in conjunction with Article 17 of the Criminal Code concerning Attempted Theft with Violence. The penalty is a maximum of six years in prison.
