Polda Metro and its Ranks Checkmate 769 Cases and Apprehend 729 Criminals during Operation Berantas Jaya 2026

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Polda Metro Jaya and its regional police (Polres) successfully checkmated 769 cases and apprehended 729 criminals during Operation Berantas Jaya, which ran from July 4-18, 2026.
Of these cases, 705 of the 729 criminals were detained. Meanwhile, 24 other criminals were not detained in accordance with applicable law.
This was conveyed by the Wakapolda of Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono, during a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya on Friday, July 31, 2026.
He stated, that these criminals were arrested for cases ranging from motorcycle theft (curanmor) to mugging. Of the 729 criminals apprehended, 35 were repeat offenders and 694 were non-recidivists.
During this operation, investigators also secured 839 pieces of evidence, including Rp10.763.000 in cash, 11 homemade firearms, 27 sharp weapons, and 428 motorcycles.
In addition, 21 cars, 150 cell phones, 71 rounds of ammunition, 119 T-keys used to break into the victims’ motorcycles, and 12 air guns were also confiscated.
Wakapolda Dekananto stated, that the Polda Metro Jaya, along with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Resort Police (Polres), not only uncovered the crime but also recovered and returned the evidence of the crime to its owners. He continued, saying the police will continue to prosecute the perpetrators.
“From these findings, 62 motorcycles and five motorcycles will be returned to the victims after going through the ownership identification and administration process in accordance with applicable law,” he explained.
Operation Berantas Jaya was launched to create a conducive situation. With this operation, the Polda Metro Jaya and its ranks also reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Jakarta to provide protection and a sense of security for the public.
