progresifjaya.co.id, MAKASSAR – Calls for President Prabowo Subianto to run again as a presidential candidate in the 2029 election were heard during the South Sulawesi Gerindra Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) and the inauguration of seven Branch Leadership Council (DPC) chairpersons.

Responding to these calls, Gerindra Party Daily Chairman Sufmi Dasco stated, that his party would remain consistent in preparing various measures to face the 2029 election.

“These will be significant developments for the progress of the Gerindra Party,” said Sufmi Dasco in Makassar on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

When asked about Prabowo’s readiness to run again as a presidential candidate and serve a second term, Sufmi Dasco replied that Gerindra is currently focusing on various preparations, including securing a victory for the party in the 2029 election.

“We are preparing for everything—victory for the Gerindra Party in 2029 and other plans,” he explained.

At the South Sulawesi Gerindra regional meeting, five regional heads in South Sulawesi were inaugurated as DPC chairpersons, out of the seven inaugurated by Sufmi Dasco.

“We at Gerindra are accustomed to operating without regents, and even without regents, thank God, we are quite strong. If we add the strength of regional heads like this, one can imagine that the results should be better than before,” explained South Sulawesi Gerindra Chairman, Andi Irwan Aras after the meeting.

The seven DPC chairpersons inaugurated by Sufmi Dasco were East Luwu Gerindra Chairman, Unru Baso, North Luwu Gerindra DPC Chairman, Andi Abdullah Rahim (who is also the local regent), and Enrekang Gerindra DPC Chairman, Muh. Yusuf Ritanga (who is also the local regent).  Subsequently, Wajo Regent Andi Rosman was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Gerindra Wajo DPC, Selayar Regent Natsir Ali as the Chairman of the local Gerindra DPC, and Sinjai Regent Ratnawati Arif as the Chairperson of Gerindra Sinjai.

“Hopefully, with the joining of these regional heads—who were, in fact, previously endorsed by the Gerindra Party—the party can be further strengthened in their respective regions,” asserted Sufmi Dasco.
