progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Australian A-League club, Brisbane Roar is set to face Indonesian clubs Dewa United FC and Persija Jakarta during a pre-season tour in Indonesia this month.
In the first match, The Roar will play against Banten Warriors in a closed-door friendly on Thursday, August 27, at the Banten International Stadium. They will then face the Macan Kemayoran at the Jakarta International Stadium on Saturday, August 29.
“This is a historic moment for our football club. It is a trip we have been preparing for a long time. We are coming to test our abilities and continue our preparations for the A-League season,” said Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta on the club’s official website, as cited on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Interestingly, the match against Dewa United FC will also serve as a reunion for Dewa United FC forward Rafael Struick with his former club.
Struick played for Brisbane Roar for approximately one season during the 2024/2025 campaign, recording 10 appearances and one goal. After his stint with Brisbane Roar, Struick moved to Dewa United FC, where he remains to this day.
The connection extends beyond Dewa United FC, there is also a link to Persija as Persija coach Shin Tae-yong once played for the three-time Australian league champions between March and October 2005.
Furthermore, the match against Persija will mark a historic moment for both clubs, as Brisbane Roar and Persija face each other for the first time as partner clubs under the same ownership—the Bakrie Group.
For Brisbane Roar, these two matches will provide an opportunity for head coach Michael Valkanis to prepare the squad for the new season, which begins with an away game against Adelaide United on October 18.
