Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri and his team inspect the MSME festival and the painting and drawing competition.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – In celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence, the Polda Metro Jaya organized a series of events, including an MSME festival and art competitions featuring painting and drawing.

The event took place at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Centered on the theme “Painting Hope, Celebrating Independence,” the event provided a platform for the younger generation and individuals with disabilities to express their creativity, spirit of independence, and hopes for Indonesia through art.

The competitions drew 76 participants across three categories: a drawing category for elementary school students (34 participants), a painting category for junior and senior high school students (30 participants), and a painting category for individuals with disabilities (12 participants).

The event was personally inspected by the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, accompanied by the Wakapolda, Brigjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono. Both officials observed the competition process firsthand while greeting and encouraging the participants.

Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto explained, that this series of activities was part of an effort to create an inclusive independence celebration that engages various segments of society.

“The spirit of independence can be realized through creativity, togetherness, and care. We want to provide a space for children, the younger generation, and individuals with disabilities to create art and showcase their best potential,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

One participant in the category for individuals with disabilities, Yayang Oktavian from North Jakarta, chose the theme “Police: Friends of the Disabled” for his artwork. He depicted a police officer helping a child cross the street after school. 

“I am delighted to be included in this event as a person with a disability. This activity also serves as a mental exercise. I hope the Polda Metro Jaya continues to thrive, grow, and remain responsible in carrying out its duties,” said Yayang.

Yayang hopes his painting achieves the best possible result in the competition. Through his work, he also aims to convey a message about the close bond between the police and the community, including people with disabilities.

In addition to the art competition, the event features an MSME festival showcasing various local products. The participation of MSME players is expected to serve as a platform to introduce products while fostering community empowerment and economic growth.

The Polda Metro Jaya hopes that the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day through this event will serve not only as a celebration but also as an opportunity to strengthen togetherness, foster creativity, support MSMEs, and boost patriotism. Long live Indonesia. (Bembo)
