Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri dispatches aid from the Polda Metro Jaya Peduli initiative, transported by 12 trucks for disaster-affected communities in NTT.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Polda Metro Jaya Peduli has dispatched humanitarian aid to communities affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). A convoy of 12 trucks carrying the aid was personally flagged off by the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri.

The dispatch took place following the ceremony commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters on the afternoon of Monday, August 17, 2026.

In his remarks, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri expressed his condolences regarding the disaster that has befallen the people of NTT.

“The extended family of Polda Metro Jaya extends its deepest condolences for the earthquake disaster that has struck our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara. We hope this aid will lighten their burden, provide tangible benefits, and offer strength to our fellow citizens currently facing this calamity,” stated Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri.

The supplies sent consist of various basic necessities, including mineral water, ready-to-eat meals for adults and toddlers, instant noodles, canned sardines, baby porridge, ready-to-drink beverages, snacks, blankets and sarongs, sleeping mats, and plastic tarpaulins of various sizes.

The entire shipment was transported via 12 trucks to Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, from where it will be airlifted to East Nusa Tenggara. Polda Metro Jaya has also coordinated with the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police to establish distribution priorities based on the specific needs of the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto expressed hope, that the aid would be put to immediate use by the affected communities.

“We hope this aid is distributed quickly to the affected communities so that it can be utilized immediately and meet the needs on the ground,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi. 

“As we mark the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence, we at the Jakarta Metro Police remain focused on unity, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and a shared sense of solidarity. Independence is not merely something to be celebrated; it must also be translated into a collective responsibility shared by the entire nation,” he added.

The delivery of aid from the Polda Metro Jaya—timed to coincide with the Republic of Indonesia’s 81st independence anniversary—is also expected to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation and national brotherhood. (Bembo)
