On the Occasion of Indonesia’s 81st Anniversary, Sufmi Dasco Urges Public to Move Optimistically Toward a Golden Indonesia

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad attended the ceremony marking Indonesia’s 81st anniversary at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. He shared several messages and hopes during this commemorative occasion.

At the outset, Sufmi Dasco expressed his condolences regarding the magnitude 7,7 earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). He noted, that the government and the DPR had already held a coordination meeting to determine the necessary response to the disaster.

“First of all, i wish to express my deep condolences regarding the disaster affecting our fellow citizens in NTT. Representatives from the government and the DPR have arrived at the site and held a coordination meeting to take the necessary measures,” he said at the Palace on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Returning to the significance of Indonesia’s 81st anniversary, Sufmi Dasco encouraged the public to remain optimistic. He called on the community to join the government in moving forward toward a Golden Indonesia.

“My hope for this independence anniversary is that we remain optimistic in facing the various dynamics at play. Let us continue to move forward toward a Golden Indonesia—independent and free,” he added.

As previously reported, regarding the coordination meeting on the NTT earthquake, the government and the DPR—acting through the Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force (Satgas Galapana)—inspected the earthquake site on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

DPR Deputy Speaker Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal led the coordination meeting with the government and the NTT Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). Also present at the meeting were DPR Deputy Speakers Saan Mustopa and Sari Yuliati, Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission XII Bambang Haryadi, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK) Pratikno, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo, and the Head of the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), Lieutenant General Suharyanto.

The DPR’s Galapana Task Force itself is led by Sufmi Dasco.  This task force was established to oversee and support budgetary policies for the recovery of disaster-stricken areas. It also oversaw post-disaster operations in Sumatera late last year. (Bembo)
