progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya has assured that the public security and order situation in the DKI Jakarta area remains safe and conducive ahead of planned demonstrations on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Public activities, public services, and various routine operations are confirmed to be proceeding normally. The Polda Metro Jaya have also prepared security measures to safeguard the space for expressing grievances while ensuring the interests of the general public remain protected.

Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto, urged the public not to worry and to continue their activities as usual.

“We want to assure all citizens to remain calm; the situation and conditions in DKI Jakarta are safe and conducive,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Regarding the planned actions on August 27, the Polda Metro Jaya have received notification letters from two groups intending to voice their aspirations in the House of Representatives (DPR) complex area.

The two groups are the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Red and White Brigade (Brigade Merah Putih Indonesia) and the Greater Bogor Three Pillars of Democracy Alliance (Aliansi Tiga Pilar Demokrasi Bogor Raya).

Each group is expected to bring a crowd of approximately 100 to 200 people. The issues to be raised concern the Asset Recovery Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset).

Kombes Pol Bhudi stated, that the expression of aspirations is part of the dynamics of democratic life and must be accommodated.

However, the execution of these events requires police oversight to ensure they proceed in an orderly manner without disrupting the activities of other members of the public.

A snapshot of such activities in Jakarta was evident on Monday, August 24, 2026, when a total of 71 public expression events took place at various locations, including the DPR complex, government ministries, and the South Jakarta District Court.

In addition to demonstrations, the police also provided security for various other public activities. 

“There are 16 other public activities—such as music concerts, the National Jamboree, and other community events—taking place. We are providing security and operational support through the Polda Metro Jaya and its subordinate precinct units,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

Meanwhile, in preparation for the August 27th protest, the Polda Metro Jaya are currently assessing the size and characteristics of the expected crowds.

Inter-unit coordination is also being arranged to determine security and operational strategies tailored to conditions on the ground.

However, security measures will not be applied uniformly, instead, they will be adapted to the specific characteristics of each area and the evolving situation as the protest unfolds.

Traffic management measures will be implemented on a situational basis. These steps will only be taken if the crowd size begins to disrupt the flow of traffic.

The Polda Metro Jaya will also strive to strike a balance between the right to express opinions and the public’s right to go about their activities safely—a crucial aspect of the security operation.

Through this approach, the Polda Metro Jaya hope that the expression of grievances on August 27th will proceed peacefully and orderly, while also respecting the public interest. (Bembo)
