progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Special Crimes Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Polda Metro Jaya has successfully uncovered a case involving the alleged illegal importation of peanuts.
During the operation, officers seized 1.536 sacks of peanuts—weighing a total of 49,85 tons—that were ready for sale.

The Director of Special Crimes Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Victor Dean Mackbon, explained that the case involves suspected violations of import permit regulations and quarantine requirements.

“These goods are suspected to have originated from abroad, entering through the Dumai area in Riau before being transported by land to the Polda Metro Jaya jurisdiction,” Kombes Pol Victor stated on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

He explained that, based on a preliminary examination, the parties involved could not produce the required official documents, such as the Import Approval (PI), Surveyor’s Report, and Quarantine Certificate.

In addition to seizing the commodity, investigators also secured transaction records, shipping manifests, sales logs, deposit slips, and storage documentation.

“Investigators are currently tracing the origin of the goods and their distribution channels—covering everything from entry and storage to planned marketing. Further investigation is being conducted to gather comprehensive evidence and establish the legal liability of the parties involved,” Kombes Pol Victor explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto emphasized, that the investigation would proceed professionally, grounded in the facts of law enforcement.

“Investigators are still examining the entire sequence of events and the involvement of relevant parties. Any developments will be communicated appropriately,” he asserted.

The Polda Metro Jaya also urged business operators to consistently comply with applicable import regulations and trade procedures. Meanwhile, members of the public who are aware of indications of smuggling or illegal trade are urged to immediately report the information via the Polri’s 110 service. (Bembo)
