progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto has officially assumed the role of Kapolri. Prior to this appointment, Jenderal Pol Suyudi served as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
Born in Pandeglang, Banten, on July 14, 1973, he began his police career after graduating from the Police Academy (Akpol) in 1994. He completed his studies at the College of Police Science (PTIK) in 2003 and the Polri Staff and Leadership School (Sespimti) in 2018.
Throughout his service with the Polri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi honed his expertise in the fields of investigation and criminal affairs. His operational career spanned various strategic positions, ranging from Head of Unit II for Mobile Detective (Resmob) at the Polda Metro Jaya to Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) at the Polres of South Jakarta, Polres Metro of Tangerang City, and Polres Metro of West Jakarta levels.
Additionally, he led the Violent Crimes Unit (Jatanras) at the Polda Metro Jaya and served as the Head of the Mobile Detective Unit (Kanit Resmob) at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim).
His leadership track record at the territorial level has also been impressive. He began his regional leadership roles as the Kapolsek of Pasar Minggu and Tanah Abang, eventually being entrusted to lead several strategic Polres units as the Kapolres of Majalengka, Bogor, and Central Jakarta.
His career continued to ascend to the regional police leadership level when he was appointed Wakapolda in 2023. A year later, in 2024, he officially assumed the role of Kapolda of Banten. President Prabowo Subianto subsequently appointed him as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on August 25, 2025, at the State Palace in Central Jakarta. The appointment was based on Presidential Decree Number 118 TPA of 2025 regarding the dismissal and appointment of officials to high-level leadership positions within the BNN.
Saving 48.3 Million Lives

During his tenure leading the agency until October 2026, several achievements were recorded in the effort to eradicate and prevent the trafficking of narcotics in Indonesia.
Just weeks after his inauguration, he spearheaded operations that exposed 11 inter-regional narcotics networks in September 2025. In these operations, the BNN apprehended 53 suspects.
Enforcement actions against narcotics networks continued into 2026. Under his leadership, the BNN recorded the seizure of 12,3 tons of narcotics evidence. These operations were also credited with disrupting the economic value of drug networks by up to Rp16,5 trillion.
Beyond narcotics enforcement, the BNN also traced assets linked to money laundering crimes. Assets worth Rp165 billion were seized in an effort to sever the financial lifelines of narcotics networks.
Through these various enforcement actions, the BNN estimated that approximately 48,3 million members of the nation’s younger generation were saved from the potential impact of narcotics trafficking.
In addition to prioritizing enforcement, Jenderal Pol Suyudi also addressed the narcotics issue from the perspective of rehabilitation. He noted that nearly 80 percent of the inmates in Indonesian correctional facilities were detainees or convicts involved in narcotics cases.
This situation was a matter of concern because the narcotics issue involves not only traffickers and major networks but also users who require treatment through rehabilitation. Consequently, strengthening coordination in the handling of narcotics users was a key priority during his leadership at the BNN.
He also prioritized addressing the evolving nature and methods of narcotics abuse. This included discussions on regulations concerning the distribution of liquid narcotics, such as etomidate.
Regarding prevention, the BNN under his leadership bolstered the Program for the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN). Public education and outreach initiatives were intensified to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
These achievements form part of Jenderal Pol Suyudi’s track record prior to securing the House of Representatives’ (DPR) approval to become the Kapolri. His experience leading the BNN provided him with a proven record in dismantling narcotics networks, enhancing coordination, tracing criminal assets, and implementing preventive measures through public education.
Now, Jenderal Pol Suyudi has advanced to the role of Kapolri. His track record while leading the BNN stands as a crucial chapter in his career journey leading up to his appointment to head the Polri institution. (Bembo)
