From the Friday Pulpit, Kapolres Metro of West Jakarta Kombes Pol Nasriadi Urges the Public to Maintain Harmony and Neighborhood Security

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – In line with the Kapolri’s motto—that the police stand together with the community—the presence of police officers in the field extends beyond merely maintaining security and order. The Polri also engages with the public through a religious approach, one that fosters a sense of peace and strengthens social bonds.

This was evident during a Friday prayer visit by Kapolres Metro of West Jakarta, Kombes Pol Nasriadi, who served as the khatib at the Al Muchlishin Grand Mosque, located on Jalan Dr. Muwardi I, Grogol Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta, on Friday, October 16, 2026.

The solemn event served as an opportunity to strengthen ties between the police, religious leaders, mosque administrators, and the local community, while also conveying messages of virtue applicable to daily life.

In his sermon, Kapolres Nasriadi encouraged the congregation to continuously deepen their faith and devotion to Allah SWT, nurture social bonds, and strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah by prioritizing mutual respect and appreciation for differences.

He also reminded the congregation that maintaining security and order is not solely the responsibility of the police, it requires the concern and active participation of all elements of society.

According to him, keeping a neighborhood safe and conducive can begin with simple actions: getting to know one’s neighbors, staying attentive to one’s surroundings, preserving harmony, and promptly reporting any potential security threats to the police.

The Kapolres also urged the public—especially the younger generation—to steer clear of drug abuse, brawls, gambling, and other criminal activities that could ruin their futures and cause pain to those who care about them. In a heartfelt message, Kapolres Nasriadi reminded the congregation that a person’s success is not measured solely by their position, wealth, rank, or status, but rather by the extent to which they are able to benefit others.

He encouraged everyone present to view life as an opportunity to spread kindness, assist those in need, and bring value to their families and the surrounding community.

A profound message was also directed toward parents, urging them not to focus exclusively on their children’s academic intelligence, but also to instill the values of tauhid, a love for the Quran, and noble character from an early age.

Meanwhile, addressing the children, Kapolres Nasriadi emphasized the importance of being devoted to one’s parents and offering prayers for them—including those who have already passed away.

As noted in the sermon, sincere prayers for one’s father and mother serve as an enduring expression of love and devotion, which can—and should—continue even after parents have departed.

The message further encouraged the congregation not to squander the opportunity to show kindness to their parents while they are still alive, and to always include them in their prayers.

This “Traveling Friday Prayer” initiative is part of the Kapolri’s 100-day priority program, designed to foster closer ties with the public through a humanistic and religious approach. It also aligns with the spirit of service and the strengthening of partnerships between the police force and the community.

Attendees included the Acting Head of the Multimedia Sub-directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Sector, AKBP Mugia Yarry Junanda; the Kapolsek Grogol Petamburan, Kompol Reza Aditya, several key officials from the Polres Metro of West Jakarta, and the congregation of the Al Muchlishin Grand Mosque.

Through this initiative, the Polres Metro of West Jakarta hopes that religious values will further strengthen brotherhood, foster social concern, and inspire the community to work together in keeping West Jakarta safe, peaceful, and conducive.

On this occasion, tokens of goodwill—consisting of copies of the Quran and prayer mats—were presented to the mosque administrators. The message conveyed was that maintaining security is not merely about preventing crime, it is also about building trust, fostering brotherhood, and bringing goodness to others. Barakallah. (Bembo)
