Operation Patuh 2026, Polri Traffic Corps Chief Invites Public to Help Transform Traffic Culture

Head of the Polri Traffic Corps, Brigjen Pol Aries Syahbudin.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polri Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), in coordination with regional (Polda) and local (Polres) police units, is launching Operation Patuh 2026, running from today, Monday, October 26, through Sunday, November 8, 2026.
Centered on the theme “Police and the Public Working Together for Orderly, Safe, and Secure Traffic,” the operation emphasizes that traffic safety is a shared responsibility between the police and all road users.
Head of the Polri Traffic Corps, Brigjen Pol Aries Syahbudin stated in Jakarta, that the operation aims to foster legal awareness among the public by prioritizing an educational, persuasive, and humanistic approach.
“We do not measure success by the number of enforcement actions taken, but rather by a shift in public behavior toward greater order and compliance with traffic regulations,” he said.
A key focus of Operation Patuh 2026 is the issue of driving against the flow of traffic. Brigjen Pol Aries has instructed police units to strengthen oversight and concentrate on preventing such behavior, with the ultimate goal of eliminating instances of vehicles traveling against the flow.
This measure is a crucial step toward reducing the risk of accidents and safeguarding all road users.
Throughout the operation, the police will prioritize promoting safety awareness, providing education on safe riding and driving practices, and utilizing the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system, alongside issuing sympathetic (cautionary) warnings.
Furthermore, Brigjen Pol Aries emphasized, that any enforcement action—such as the issuance of a traffic ticket—must be accompanied by personnel from the Provost division. This serves as an internal oversight mechanism to ensure that duties are carried out in accordance with regulations and that the professionalism of police officers is maintained.
Beyond mere law enforcement, Operation Patuh 2026 also serves as an opportunity to enhance the quality of traffic-related services provided to the public. Every officer is expected to be courteous, responsive, and solution-oriented, ensuring that the public directly experiences the benefits of the Polri’s presence in fostering safe and comfortable travel.
Through Operasi Patuh 2026, the Korlantas Polri also encourages the public to participate in shifting the culture of road conduct. The goal is to cultivate a sense of care—both for one’s own safety and for the safety of others. (Bembo)
