Hoax Posts Target Kapolres Sukabumi and BPKB Services, IMW West Java Urges Filing a Police Report

A hoax post on the social media platform TikTok.
progresifjaya.co.id, SUKABUMI – A social media account on TikTok twenty four jabar, has disseminated defamatory content—or hoaxes—through posts titled, “They say there’s an ‘express’ BPKB service for Rp3 million —no need to wait months. Go check it out!” Another post was titled, “Three Months into His Tenure, AKBP Dr. Benny Cahyadi, S.H., S.I.K., M.H.—What Lies Behind the Arbitrary, Corrupt, and Extortionate Practices Within the Sukabumi Police”
These posts were published without any attempt to seek confirmation from the Polres Sukabumi. Aiptu Wiwin Winardi, the officer in charge of BPKB (Vehicle Ownership Document) services at the Polres Sukabumi stated, that these intimidating and terror-inducing social media posts have significantly disrupted the focus and workflow of personnel at the Samsat (One-Stop Administrative System) offices in Cibadak and Pelabuhan Ratu.
“I am truly incensed by these irresponsible posts. What is the point of uploading this to TikTok. Are they trying to go viral? The intentions of this twenty four jabar account—whoever is behind it—are clearly malicious,” Aiptu Wiwin told the author on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
“They have even gone so far as to slander the Kapolres Sukabumi with baseless accusations. I am eager to file a formal police report, i’m just waiting for the directive from my superiors. Personally, i am ready to go ahead and file it,” he added.
Edwar, the West Java Regional Chairman of the NGO Indonesia Morality Watch (IMW), expressed a sentiment aligned with that of Aiptu Wiwin. He stated, that the method of criticism employed by the TikTok account twenty four jabar has crossed into the realm of criminal activity. Even if the intent were to offer constructive criticism, this is certainly not the way to go about it.
“The posts by the TikTok account twenty four jabar—which target the BPKB division and the Kapolres Sukabumi—constitute criminal offenses. They involve slander, the dissemination of hoaxes, and defamation. It is only appropriate for the Polres Sukabumi to file a formal police report in response. They cannot simply remain silent, doing nothing fails to create any deterrent effect for the perpetrators,” said Edwar.
He added, that the police must be bold in taking a firm stance and decisive action against cybercriminals who engage in such behavior. If left unchecked, the perpetrators will never learn their lesson, as they will continue to feel safe and unthreatened.
“Those who spread slander on social media must be dealt with firmly. They exploit social media to make quick money by using the removal of their posts as a bargaining chip. This behavior is unacceptable and must be addressed with a stern response. A police report should be filed so that the perpetrators can be processed—that is the only proper way to handle this,” Edwar advised. (Bembo)
