progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) of the Bareskrim Polri, along with regional police (Polda), successfully uncovered 755 cases of subsidized fuel and LPG misuse between 2025 and April 2026 in 33 provinces across Indonesia. Of these hundreds of cases, 672 suspects were arrested, resulting in potential state losses of up to Rp1,26 trillion (comprising Rp516,8 billion in subsidized fuel and Rp749,2 billion in subsidized LPG).

The uncovering of these 755 cases, which caused state losses of Rp1,2 trillion, received significant praise from the Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), Edi Saputra Hasibuan. He hopes that this significant achievement by the Bareskrim Polri will help stabilize the prices of subsidized fuel and LPG, thereby maintaining a conducive economy.

“We certainly hope that the stability of subsidized fuel and LPG prices will be maintained thanks to this large-scale operation,” said Edi Hasibuan in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

He acknowledged, that the Polri’s role in maintaining stable fuel and LPG prices is crucial. This is especially true now that fuel shortages are under global scrutiny due to the conflict between Iran and Israel and the United States, which has led to Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has created a global energy crisis. But we believe the presence of the Polri can maintain national economic stability,” said the man born on April 13, 1968, who also serves as the Kapolri’s Expert Staff for police law and criminology.

Expert Staff to the Kapolri for police law and criminology, Edi Saputra Hasibuan with the Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Previously, the Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Polri, Brigjen Pol Nunung Syaifuddin, revealed that this case was uncovered from 2025 to early 2026. The investigation was conducted to prevent disruption amidst the energy crisis caused by the impact of global conflict.

In the 2025 investigation, the confiscated evidence included 1.182.388 liters of diesel fuel, 127.019 liters of Pertalite, and 17.516 3-kilogram gas cylinders.

Furthermore, 516 kilograms of 5.5-kilogram gas cylinders, 4.945 12-kilogram gas cylinders, 422 50-kilogram gas cylinders, and 353 four-wheeled and six-wheeled vehicles were seized.

In 2026, from January to April, cases were uncovered at 97 crime scenes with 89 suspects. Meanwhile, the evidence confiscated during that period included 112.663 liters of diesel fuel, 7.096 3-kilogram gas cylinders, and 425 5.5-kilogram gas cylinders.

Furthermore, 3.113 12-kilogram gas cylinders and 315 50-kilogram gas cylinders were seized. A total of 79 four-wheeled and six-wheeled vehicles used as tools for the crimes were also confiscated. (Bembo)
