progresifjaya.co.id, TARUMAJAYA — As a form of support for food security and the supply chain ecosystem of the National Police Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG Polri), the Polres Metro of Bekasi released 10.000 catfish fingerlings. The release of the catfish fingerlings was carried out directly by Kapolres Metro of Bekasi, Kombes Pol Sumarni, in the cultivation pond at Polsek of Tarumajaya, Kampung Sungai Atap Number 8, Pantai Makmur Village, Bekasi Regency, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The release of larval fingerlings as part of this cultivation program is expected to become a sustainable source of nutritious food.
Furthermore, the Polres Metro of Bekasi strongly supports the national food security program.

Kapolres Metro of Bekasi, Kombes Pol Sumarni stated in a statement, that this activity demonstrates the Polres Metro of Bekasi commitment to supporting the national food security program. Catfish cultivation, she continued, has great potential because it is easy to develop.  This potential is due to the relatively quick harvest period and its role as a source of animal protein for the community.

“This catfish cultivation is part of the Polres Metro of Bekasi support for food security and the sustainability of the Polri’s SPPG supply chain. We want this program to not only benefit nutritional needs but also provide economic value for the community,” said Kombes Pol Sumarni.

She also explained, that the catfish cultivation program within the Polsek of Tarumajaya is also expected to encourage community empowerment. The involvement of farmer groups, youth organizations, Bhayangkari (the Indonesian Youth Movement), and food micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is seen as opening up new economic opportunities.

“Going forward, we hope this cultivation pond can continue to be developed in collaboration with the community. This way, its benefits can be felt more widely, both in supporting nutritional needs and improving the welfare of residents,” she further explained.

Several senior officials (PJU) from the Polres Metro of Bekasi and the Kapolsek of Tarumajaya, AKP I Gede Bagus Ariska Sudana, were also present at the catfish seed distribution event. The entire event proceeded safely, orderly, and conducively.
