Sufmi Dasco Leads Legislative Body Plenary Meeting to Discuss Domestic Worker Protection Bill

Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, leads the Working Meeting (Plenary) for Level I Discussion of the RUU PPRT.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The plenary meeting for the first level of discussion on the Domestic Worker Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) took place in the Legislation Body room, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday evening, April 20, 2026. The plenary meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
Also present at the plenary meeting were Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, and Deputy Minister of State Secretary Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, representing the government.
“Today’s Legislative Body meeting was attended by 24 people, consisting of eight factions. Therefore, the quorum has been met,” said Sufmi Dasco at the start of the plenary meeting.
“Ladies and gentlemen, leaders and members of the Legislative Body, and distinguished guests. Tonight’s Legislative Body working meeting is scheduled to make a decision on the results of the deliberations on the Draft Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers,” he continued.
The plenary meeting for the decision-making process on the Domestic Worker Protection Bill is open to the public. Before the decision is made, the Chair of the Working Committee for the Domestic Worker Protection Bill, Bob Hasan, will first provide an introduction regarding the points finalized by the drafting team (timus) and synchronization team (timsin).

Afterward, the eight factions in the House of Representatives (DPR) will provide statements regarding the Domestic Worker Protection Bill. The DPR and the government will then sign the draft bill before it is brought to the second plenary session.
“The Chairperson’s introduction will cover the ongoing meeting, the report of the Working Committee Chairperson, the opinions or mini-views of the factions and the government, the decision-making process, the signing of the draft bill, and the closing remarks,” Sufmi Dasco added.
The results of tonight’s plenary meeting of the Legislative Body (Baleg) will be presented at the plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
For your information, after a 22-year delay, the plenary session to discuss the RUU PPRT was finally held by the DPR RI Legislative Body (Baleg). This plenary session follows up on a presidential letter issued by President Prabowo Subianto requesting further discussion of the regulation.
The plenary session focused on following up on the 417 Problem Inventory Lists (DIM) from the government, with the goal of enacting them into law to provide certainty of employment status and social security protection.
This process also represents significant progress in fulfilling the long-sought-after rights of domestic workers.
