progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Faction, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, together with Deputy Speakers Saan Mustopa (NasDem Faction) and Sari Yulianti (Golkar Faction), met with the Public School Non-Civil Servant Teacher Advocacy Forum (FAGRI). The meeting was held to discuss the employment status of non-civil servant teachers—also known as honorary teachers—in public schools, for whom there is currently no certainty regarding their status beyond 2026.

The meeting took place in the DPR leadership room at the Nusantara III building, Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

During the meeting, Sufmi Dasco firmly urged the government to immediately provide certainty regarding the resolution of the employment status issue for non-civil servant teachers.

“We urge that certainty regarding the status of non-civil servant teachers for 2027 be formulated immediately,” said Sufmi Dasco, as quoted from his Instagram post on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

He revealed that there are 172.323 non-civil servant teachers—based on a 2024 cut-off—whose status requires immediate clarification.

This is because the Circular Letter from the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Number 7 of 2026—regarding the assignment of non-civil servant teachers in educational units managed by local governments in 2026, which was issued earlier this year—is valid only until December 31, 2026.

To date, there are still no regulations governing the employment status and teaching activities of non-civil servant teachers for 2027.

With time running short, Sufmi Dasco reaffirmed the DPR RI’s commitment to urging relevant parties to follow up on the aspirations of these non-civil servant teachers, who are considered vital national assets.

“Teachers are national assets who shape future generations, and i assure you that the DPR RI will oversee the resolution of their status until it is fully settled,” he asserted. (Bembo)
