progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, known by his initials SAM, has been named a suspect in a case of alleged student abuse by the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri). This determination was made after investigators conducted a case review related to the case report.

The Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the Polri Public Relations Division, Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko stated in a statement, that the case is being handled by the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking (Dit PPA-PPO) Bareskrim Polri. This handling also demonstrates the Polri’s commitment to providing protection for the victim.

“This case stems from police report No. LP/B/586/XI/2025/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated November 28, 2025. After investigators conducted a case review, it was finally decided to name the reported party, Mr. SAM, as a suspect,” Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo told the media on Friday, April 24, 2026.

He also explained, that investigators had also sent a Notification Letter of Investigation Progress (SP2HP) to the reporting party or victim, identified as MMA. The letter was officially signed by investigators on April 22, 2026.

“The reporting party or victim has been notified of the progress of the investigation through SP2HP No. B/66/IV/Res.1.24/2026/Dittipid PPA and PPO to Mr. MMA on April 22, 2026, and has also been signed by investigators,” Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo added.

For your information, preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, also known as SAM, was reported to the Bareskrim Polri for alleged sexual harassment of a student (santri) on November 28, 2025. The victims’ attorney, Benny Jehadu, stated, that the reported preacher frequently appeared on television as a judge for Al-Quran memorization.

Benny Jehadu also stated, that he had submitted several pieces of evidence confirming the alleged crime. The evidence submitted included digital traces of conversations and a video recording from the past.

“The evidence we submitted to investigators was chat evidence. Then there was video, and there was some other evidence as well. The video appears to have been a form of tabayyun (consultation) at the time, so there was an apology from the perpetrator to religious leaders,” explained another victim’s attorney, Wati Trisnawati, on March 12, 2026.

She also stated, that this harassment case claimed more than one victim. All of his clients, the attorney said, suffered profound psychological trauma as a result of the incident.

The legal representative for five students who were victims of harassment by preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, also known as SAM, filed a police report with the Bareskrim Polri.

“Our client currently has five victims. The case involved sexual harassment against not only girls, but also boys, and people of the same sex. There were minors and adults as well,” Benny Jehadu added.

Benny continued, saying that the violations by preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, also known as SAM, are suspected to have been going on for quite some time, spanning several years. During investigators’ investigations, the crime scenes were also reported to have occurred in several different locations.

“The most likely timeframe is around 2017. So, there were several victims at different times. Some were in 2017, 2018, and even 2025. But the dates were different,” he added.

On another occasion, the accused preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, also known as SAM, also spoke out about the harassment case against him.

In a video uploaded to his Instagram account, Ahmad explained that he had left for Egypt on March 15, 2026, to be with his mother.

“I, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, left for Egypt on March 15, 2026, and arrived in Egypt on March 16, 2026, to accompany my sick mother who underwent surgery on March 17, 2026,” he explained.

He also stated, that he only received a police summons on March 30, 2026, and that he was summoned as a witness at that time.

“So, the police summons came after i had been in Egypt for approximately 15 days. I would like to thank the Bareskrim, the investigators, for giving me the opportunity to testify online,” Ahmad said.

Head of Public Information Bureau, Public Relations Division Polri, Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko.

“And this police summons is as a witness, not as a suspect, as many people imagine or have spread. Secondly, the allegations of harassment against the students are untrue,” he added.

Furthermore, he also requested, that the circulating information be investigated. He has also handed over the alleged harassment case to his attorney.

“So please be careful because i have handed over the evidence i have to my attorney to hand it over to the authorities, and there are also witnesses,” said Ahmad.

Apart from that, he also regretted the attitude of the ustaz who spread this negative information. He also considered the information circulating to be slander.

“And i ask the ustadz who spreads this information, or slander, or accusations, to produce even one video. I give a fatwa like that. By Allah, i have never given a fatwa to something like that and this is a very cruel slander that is being spread on many social media,” stressed Ahmad.

Another thing, he also offended a number of people who claimed to know him. Even though these people have never met and communicated directly.

“And many people say that they know me and know my character. These people have never met me, even met me, never even communicated via WA,” he stressed, making excuses.

“And it’s also very unfortunate that many preachers spread these slanders without checking with me. Even though they have my contact number,” he continued regretfully.
