progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The acid attack on a man riding an electric motorcycle by two unidentified individuals on Jalan Dharma Wanita V, Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, ended with the arrest of both perpetrators by the Polda Metro Jaya Mobile Detective (Resmob)
Sub-Directorate. Both were apprehended less than 12 hours after the attack.

In a statement, Head of Unit 3 of the Polda Metro Jaya Resmob Sub-Directorate, Iptu Teuku M Dzaki Harasyad stated, that his team had acted swiftly to follow up on this case.

“Under the leadership of the Head of the Polda Metro Jaya Resmob Sub-Directorate, AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, the two perpetrators were apprehended in less than 12 hours at two different locations in West Jakarta,” he said.

The two perpetrators, identified as DM and MG, who are still students, were arrested in the Cengkareng and Kembangan areas of West Jakarta, respectively. Despite initial resistance from their families, the arrests proceeded without resistance.

The two perpetrators initially denied their involvement. However, after police showed CCTV footage from the scene, they both bowed their heads in shame and confessed to their actions.

The police also found evidence in the form of hydrochloric acid, a chemical used in the attack. Based on the investigation, the perpetrators had long possessed the liquid and obtained it through purchases on e-commerce platforms.

The investigation also revealed that the motive for the attack was hurt. The perpetrators were offended after being mocked by the victim and his teammates after losing a soccer match.

“The two perpetrators, identified as MG and DM, carried out the attack because they were hurt over losing the soccer match,” explained Iptu Teuku M Dzaki Harasyad.

In a fit of rage, the perpetrators finally took the dangerous liquid from their home not far from the scene of the incident. They then poured it on the victim.

“As a result of their actions, the two perpetrators are being charged under Article 466 of the Criminal Code concerning assault, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison,” explained Iptu Teuku M Dzaki Harasyad.

The acid attack went viral thanks to a video posted on Instagram by @warga.jakbar on Monday, April 27, 2026. The incident involved two perpetrators riding a motorcycle, and the victim riding an electric bicycle.

“The acid attack occurred in Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng,” the post read.

In the video, the victim is followed by two suspected perpetrators riding a Scoopy automatic motorcycle. The rider is also shown wearing a white T-shirt, and the alleged acid attacker is wearing a black hoodie.

After being caught up, the alleged perpetrator’s motorcycle and the victim’s electric motorcycle were parallel. The victim and the two perpetrators briefly engaged in a verbal argument.

Suddenly, a man wearing a black hoodie doused the victim with water from a bottle, suspected to be acid.

After committing this act, the two perpetrators immediately fled. The victim, meanwhile, stopped his motorcycle.

The caption of the viral video states that the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital by residents after the incident.
