The congested situation was immediately addressed by police officers. Traffic flow, which had previously been severely congested, gradually returned to normal.

One thing that is noteworthy is that the handling of the congested situation on the ground was apparently directly commanded by the Kapolres Metro of North Jakarta, Kombes Pol Erick Frendriz. He personally went to the location of the problem to ensure it was carried out effectively. He even helped direct traffic with personnel on the ground to ease the congestion.

“We ensure that the handling is carried out quickly and appropriately. Personnel have made arrangements, and the traffic situation is now starting to clear up,” said Kombes Pol Erick Frendriz to the media at the scene.

In addition to handling the situation, this officer, a graduate of the Sarja Arya Racana Battalion of the Police Academy 2001 (SAR 2001), also urged the public to maintain traffic discipline. Road users are asked to obey traffic signs and follow officers’ directions to prevent similar congestion and traffic jams from recurring.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Traffic Unit of the Polres Metro of North Jakarta, Kompol Ridha Poetera Aditya explained in a statement, that the congestion and traffic jams were triggered by diversions from the Bekasi-Cakung Highway due to ongoing construction work.

As a result, many motorists chose alternative routes through the Harapan Indah area, Medan Satria, Bekasi City. However, at the border point leading to Rorotan, there was a road narrowing or bottleneck, particularly around the bridge, which caused significant congestion during the morning rush hour.

“Vehicle volume has increased significantly from Bekasi to Jakarta. Meanwhile, road capacity at that point is limited, resulting in a buildup,” said Kompol Ridha Poetera Aditya.

Nevertheless, Kompol Ridha continued, the police will continue to monitor and regulate traffic to anticipate further congestion, especially during rush hour. He also reminded the public to plan their trips with traffic conditions in mind and to seek the latest information to avoid congestion at vulnerable points.
