However, on Friday, May 15, 2026, Jaylen Brown was named one of five finalists for another prestigious NBA award.

Since the Boston Celtics’ shocking first-round playoff loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Jaylen Brown has been at the center of trade rumors, particularly regarding a potential blockbuster deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time MVP of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jaylen Brown has also been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons recently due to the fallout from his complaints about the NBA officiating during the Boston Celtics’ playoff series loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Friday’s announcement marks an impressive milestone for Jaylen Brown.  And he’ll be looking to become the second consecutive Boston Celtics player to win the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy after former Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday won the award last year. Jrue Holiday now plays for the Portland Trail Blazers.
