Sufmi Dasco Explains 17-Year-Old Suspected Bomber at SMAN 72 Was Also a Victim of the Explosion

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, accompanied by Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman, and Special Envoy of the President, Raffi Ahmad, visited the victims of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta on Friday, (7/11). Dasco and his entourage arrived at around 5:18 PM WIB.

In his official statement after visiting, Dasco stated that the victims of the explosion suffered varying degrees of injuries. The most severe injuries were to the jaw, head, and face, requiring surgery.

“Of the 54 victims of the explosion who were rushed to the hospital, four required surgery. Meanwhile, 21 have recovered and been discharged,” Dasco explained.

“We all pray that those undergoing surgery will be safe and that everyone will return to their normal health,” he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the investigation conducted by the Polda Metro Jayq Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom), Dasco stated that the suspected perpetrator is a student at SMAN 72, who was also a victim and was rushed to the hospital. His injuries were so severe that he required surgery.

“According to the information i have, the suspected bomber is 17 years old and a student at SMAN 72. However, because his condition is still serious and he is hospitalized, he cannot be questioned yet,” Dasco confirmed.

“The Polda Metro Jayq Jibom is still working to uncover the motive and chronology of the incident. This case is still being thoroughly investigated. We will have to wait and see what the investigation results will be,” he added.

Furthermore in his statement, Dasco also urged all schools to be more cautious and to strengthen supervision of student activities related to cell phone and social media use.

“We also ask all schools to practice caution. Students in particular should filter their social media content to avoid potentially negative content. That’s our message to remind everyone,” he concluded. (Bembo)
