The man identified by the initial R, who kicked a woman at Senayan City Mall, has been apprehended by the Operational Team of Sub-directorate IV (Violent Crimes/Jatanras) of the Polda Metro Jaya’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A man identified by the initial R (44), who kicked a woman at Senayan City Mall in Central Jakarta, was arrested by the Operational Team of the Violent Crimes Unit (Subdit Jatanras) of the Polda Metro Jaya in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, early this morning.

The Head of the Violent Crimes Unit, AKBP Abdul Rahim explained, that R has been taken to the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters for further questioning. Investigators are also still examining the sequence of events and the motive behind the alleged assault.

“The individual in question has been taken into custody. Investigators are currently gathering evidence and looking into the chronology and motive of the incident,” said AKBP Abdul Rahim in a statement on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Investigators have already questioned four witnesses to gather information regarding the incident. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the facts of the case and determine the next legal steps.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto, urged the public not to speculate on the motive before the investigation is concluded.

“We urge the public not to spread unverified information. Please trust the investigators to handle the case and contact the police if you have any information related to the incident,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

A video of the woman being kicked has also gone viral on social media. CCTV footage circulating online shows the incident taking place at a food stall.

Initially, a woman wearing a white top is seen standing in line in front of a food stall. Behind her, a man in a black t-shirt is seen sitting and eating.
